Whereas, on this end of the political spectrum, we’re worried that Republicans are going to fuck up the economy (like they did last time), and fuck up the things they get control over (like they did last time), ruin people’s lives for money (like they did last time), give rich people even yet more money at the cost of helping people who really need it (like they did last time), and start fucking wars for bullshit reasons (like they did last time). Of course, we’re also worried that the person sitting in the president’s seat is an overgrown child with delusions of competence and no self control, and the fact that a significant chunk of the population thinks this grossly unqualified hypocritical racist sexist lying orange dickmuppet is fit to represent this country. ---

PJ O’Rourke’s endorsement of Clinton–“She’s wrong about nearly everything, but she’s wrong within normal parameters”–is a key idea. Obama, Clinton, Dole, Romney, McCain, are all politicians within normal parameters. If Jeb Bush had won, I’d be upset, and I’d work to limit the damage he did. But Trump? He’s way outside of normal parameters. If you want to burn the whole fucker down, he’s your man. But if you want considered policy debates informed by reason and facts, he’s not for you. Folks who thought Obama was the antichrist were the same unreasoning assholes who got Trump elected. This is not a tu quoque, it’s a they also quoque. ---

Basically, folks were upset with Obama because they thought he was lying about who he is and what he wants to do. We’re upset with Trump because we think he’s telling the truth about who he is and what he wants to do. ---

You sure there haven’t been ridiculous conspiracy theories coming from the left about trump? And most of the concerns you mention are NOT trump specific, they would apply to just about any Republican. Trump will be more embarrassing than any of the other prospects but I see no reason to believe he will be any worse than other republican. But maybe I’m wrong. Which republican candidate do you think WOULDN’T adopt the policies you think Trump will adopt? ---
