I am a fairly recent convert to _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_, only having discovered it within the past year and being forced to watch it two episodes per day on FX while working, napping, or otherwise being distracted but I do love the show (and might surprise a few people by admitting it now outranks any _Star Trek_ as my favorite series) and have seen enough of it to have absolutely fallen head over heels in love with Willow Rosenberg. I’m not sure where my fondness for the character was born but it was sometime in the past few months that it started developing into something more. Being a recent fan, I can’t give you the episode title but I can tell you it was in a scene with Buffy on UC Sunnydale’s lawn where she was twirling a pencil in the air with her magic while explaining it wasn’t dangerous so long as she kept her emotions in check only to be surprised (or angered?) a moment later and drove the pencil an inch or two deep in a nearby tree. I’m not sure what it was about that particular scene that finally made me notice her but from then on, I just couldn’t help taking my eyes off her everytime she was on the screen and I kept falling harder and faster until three months later when it crossed the point of no return and I actually fell in love with a television character. I’ve never been in this situation before. Growing up, I had the hugest crush on Saved by the Bell’s Kelly Kapowski and still have a thing for Tiffani Amber Thiessen a decade later but this is different. Alyson Hannigan, while as attractive as Willow Rosenberg, doesn’t do much of anything for me and it’s only the character I love. The character that makes me giggle uncontrollably or makes me smile just by being on the screen or has even made me cry and have my heart feel like it was about to implode a few times because she was hurt. I saw _Seeing Red_ again for the third or fourth time today and it was horrible. _The Body_ made me cry at least four or five time and two of those were because _she_ was crying. I seriously love her as much as some of the girls I’ve known, have touched, and, _are real_ and this is kind of frightening. I’ve always known I was a geek and I wear it as a badge of honor but this is almost too much. I love Willow Rosenberg. ---

Most people remember the moment they fell in love a little clearer than that. It was the Sunnydale high campus in the season 3 episode Doppelganger. She lost control because of the mention of Faith. This isn’t a nitpick, just proof that my undying devotion to Willow outshines yours. ---

Speaking of being late to the party … I was in love with Willow when my roommate had all the Buffy DVDs. I mean, how can you not be? I loved Alyson in American Pie but Willow … did you see the one with the alternate universe, when she was all kitted up in leather? very nice. Now that I don’t live with that roommate any more, and have had to find my own old TV series to watch, my crush has changed, and I hope you don’t mind if I use your thread to confess my undying love for Special Agent Dale Cooper. _sigh_ He’s so dreamy … ---

You know, I’m a new Buffy convert too (I’m 3 episodes into Season 4), and I adore Willow as well. I think Alyson Hannigan is gorgeous in real life, but I’m incredibly fond of Willow, and I never feel that way about fictional characters. She’s amazing: a redhead, cute, funny, smart, quirky, geeky, loyal, magical, sexy, dangerous, and even Jewish (a bonus!). And I agree on “Doppelgangland” Willow in the black leather – yowza, that was hot. I need to buy that action figure, but not for any kinky or immoral purposes. In real life, Alyson is married to Alexis Denisof, who played Wesley Wyndham-Price on Buffy and Angel, and he is a lucky, lucky man. You know they’re going to have some great-looking kids! ---

Honestly, I would normally not give a show like that a second look, but because it’s lovely Alyson, I’ll check it out. In fact, I’ll give all the Buffy cast members’ new shows a chance this fall, but I’m especially looking forward to Kitchen Confidential, which happens to have Nic Brendon. ---

I’m also an Alyson-liker but a Willow-lover. Now, I tell myself that there must be some essential Willowness to Alyson, but maybe she’s just a good actress. However, the interviews I’ve read with her seem to reveal a character not as endearing as Willow. ---
