Honey, when I was a newbie, we didn’t even have the Internet. We had to pound out our posts with rocks, and listen to the echoes up and down the valleys. You should have heard some of the lame assed things people pounded out in those days. And some of them are still at it. It’s not how old your are, it’s whether you have anything to say that is worth reading. You don’t seem to have a problem in that regard. Spelling, grammar, and coherency all seem to be present in your posts to date. Your youth itself is certainly not a detriment. I cannot imagine a more stultifying situation than being limited to discussions with a whole board full of middle aged farts such as I am. Yeck! Tris ---

You have shown through your post that you are an intelligent and mature person, **loneraven**. I think you will do fine. I can tell you one thing though. If you do get flamed, don’t take it to heart. It doesn’t mean that everyone dislikes you. If you learn from your mistakes people here will respect you. It’s never too late to redeem yourself (unless you’re a complete asshat who insults people for no reason, or just because you disagree with their opinion.) IMO, I like teenagers being a part of this board. Diversity is one of the great things about a message board such as this one. Have fun! 🙂 ---

When I’m in my 20s, I’m building up my life and as long as I’m single, virginal, and childless, I’m still supposedly developing. Then when I hit 30, I’ll be a REAL grownup (even though I’ll probably still be single, virginal and childless, knowing me) and almost everyone except my older relatives (I’ll always be a kid to them) will take me seriously. Guess what? I may be young, but I’m certainly not a stereotypical teenager or college student. I don’t use leet (I may occasinally use “lol” or “brb,” but only during instant messages), my hormones are NOT raging (I have urges like everyone else, but they’re usually dormant), I don’t drink or have sex or anything else college students supposedly do, I’m not angsty, I refuse to listen to the stuff that’s popular for people my age and younger, I couldn’t care less about fashion, etc. I can converse with people of any age group and don’t let just anyone influence me. Yet many adults still talk down to me (or worse, try to be “cool” and use stupid teen slang and pretend they understand me). It happens. I pity silly teenagers who mark their arrival with something like “H3y, Im nu H3R3, wAsUp?” Frankly I find that writing style annoying, and I usually don’t take people seriously if they write like that. I know I shouldn’t make assumptions, but when I read something like that, it seems like the poster lacks intelligence. But then, I believe that the English language should be used properly in speech and writing (that doesn’t include neglecting the shift key and writing all lowercase, even though I know it annoys some people). I’m at an age where I don’t really care or think much about how old I am, so oftentimes if you ask me I say, “I dunno, what year is it?” And since I know someone will ask, I’ll be 27 soon. I think. ---
