We don’t Pit the newbies. We say nice, encouraging things and try to make their entrance as pleasant and fulfilling as possible. Later, when they’ve been here a while and we’ve triangulated their positions on every thing from reproductive rights to choice of footwear we eviscerate them in GD and then cut their legs off in the Pit.\* But that’s for later.
