It makes me stupider than usual, which doesn’t make me happy. I don’t drink much or often either, for the same reason. The last time I smoked any weed, it was because I had a toothache from hell and that was the only painkiller around. It made it worse. WAY worse. But then, even before that, I had been known to split an 8th, and still have most of my share left 6 months later, so…yah. I don’t think I’ve ever been RIGHTEOUSLY buzzed; I just want to go sleep before long. Oh, and if anyone wants to try for the first time, just…do NOT, do NOT!! drink alcohol before or after. My only cases of headspins were from being mildly booze buzzed before getting mildly weed-buzzed. urrrrgh…heave…blork…spinspinspin…yuck. Keep 'em separate. 😛 ---

Eh yeah, I don’t get what all the fuss was about. The one and only time I tried it I had both brownies and the more traditional way. At most I felt like I was mildly drunk, it was a different feeling but sort of the same type. Also I got the side effects, mostly the paranoia and cotton mouth. Not something I’d like to try again if all I get is side effects. ---

I miss it! ☹ Were it legal, it would be my drug of choice. As it stands, I have too much to lose with a positive test (and yes, I know, there are little pills that are supposed to take care of that, but it’s too much hassle). ::Reminder to self: send contribution to NORML this month.:: ---

I love it. There’s no way to describe how much. It makes everything feel\* just fine\*. Wish it was legal but I doubt that will ever happen in TN. If it was, I’d be a regular smoker. I don’t drink or smoke cigarettes, and I’ve never enjoyed any other drug. It does everything I like and nothing I don’t. Oh well. ---

I think pot will be legal in about ten years or so. At least in some states, the ones hurting bad for tax revenue. I’ve never tried it. I had a strict religious upbringing, and besides, I just hate the smell. To my nose, it’s like a burning sewage stink. I might try it, just for the experience. But I don’t really enjoy intoxication so much. My favorite buzz actually comes from my monthly Midol. ---

I AM A POTHEAD. circa 1985, my first at a party after my last day of my senior year in high school. I pay taxes, stop at stop signs, buy fund-raiser-for-the-kids-overpriced-candy, design a whole lotta shit- for money, honorable discharge, college degree, do shit that many people think impossible, jammed on stage, been on the TV, vote, volunteer, give money to them whineysomebitcheseventhoughIshouldsaveitformyownretirement, open doors for chicks, help the next-door old folks do shit, “guy that they go ask when they can’t figure something out”, dude. Smoking pot has never kept me from trying to be a good, responsible citizen. It is not for everyone, I agree, but it is for me. I say: “Make it legal, primo, and available” from U.S. soil. Tax it. I’ll pay. Leave Satan to them other sombitches… ---

Question for those who haven’t tried pot due to the fact that it is illegal: is the problem that you feel moral qualms about breaking a law or that you are afraid of the ramifications of being caught? ---

Mostly the latter. With other drugs, there’d also be the guilt for supporting a violent distribution method, but with pot, if you know your own grower you don’t need to buy pot from the gangs. Plus I don’t like the idea of smoking. I’d probably eat the stuff. And from what I hear it’s not that much better than booze, relative to the stuff I want to experience. ---

I don’t have any moral issues with it - most of my family and family friends use various substances, and they are a wide selection of normal people up to and including otherwise model citizens with important jobs. And it goes without saying that even the worst (other than the one with an actual mental illness) is much more functional than the alcoholics. I just, personally, don’t like feeling like that. ---

Eh, in my experience tolerance is a big issue too. Regular smokers can pound the funky skunky so-called “one hit and you’re gone” stuff with regularity. When I first tried weed, it was in the 1980’s, the weed was just run-of-the-mill commercial stuff, and I used to get SO VERY stoned, and for a lot longer than I ever did on much higher-grade smoke later in my illustrious dope-smoking career (which is about completely over, it doesn’t do much for me anymore in terms of “wanting to feel that way”). ---

I had a little puff in the back yard, to see if I might appreciate the stars a little more. I have smoked pot pretty much every day for 30 years. I don’t smoke a lot, about a joint a day. It mellows me out and helps my jittery stomach. ---

I tried pot in the 70’s a few times and it didn’t agree with me. It made me sleepy, hungry and paranoid. My eyes also got really red and were like slits. I wanted to like it because so many of my friends smoked it but it wasn’t for me. ---
