I think that the reason people are giving you such a hard time is your reasoning (now dont take this post as rude. It is only constructive criticism). The issue is that you consistently cite your three reasons every time someone asks you, “Why didn’t you move?” The reason they keep asking you why, even though you have stated your three reasons countless number of times, is because they are too poor to be taken seriously (I understand this sounds harsh but I am just trying to help you). If you can provide better reasoning to me and the other people that disagree with your point of view, maybe things can calm down considerabely. It is all about the reasoning. Like others have stated many times, you could have asked your SO to move, or you could have moved so that he other couple would sit next to the sick. I am sorry, but this wasn’t a valid excuse. 2. How could you assume they were not going to be good movie goers? What if it was someone who was interested in the movie? You couldn’t have known that from the beginning. 3. The problem here is that you are implying that you wouldn’t have moved even if you didn’t have a reason. Sure you didn’t have to move, but like I said earlier, it is basically the same thing as saying, “I don’t have to tip waiters.” This isn’t really a reason. Also, it is about generosity. If you want to be viewed as a generous person, you will want to do courteous things like this. I think you can avoid a lot of commotion that is going on here if you can provide some real arguments, or come up with a valid response to my refutation of your arguments, or even forfeiting your stance (however I recommend you first try to reason with us). It all comes down to reasoning on this Message Board. If you want to have a good experience on the SDMB your reasoning needs to be air tight, or you will experience much of what is going on right now in this thread - people constantly on your back, etc. Bottom line: find good reasoning to support your stance if you want others to take you seriously and stop annoying you. Bob Ducca, if you are just here to poke her with a stick, we might as well just assume your posts have no value. You are just being a troll. I know it has been a slow week on the SDMB, but that doesn’t mean you should be annoying, insulting, and making mademoiselle unhappy. Get a life. ---

If she and her SO had left 4 seats on the end, when the other early couple came in they would either have sat on the end two seats, leaving two seats together between them, or sat in the middle of the 4 empty seats leaving one on either side. Then when the late-comers came in, _that couple_ would have been the ones asked to move either to the left or the right to put those two empties side-by-side and mademoiselle and her SO wouldn’t have had to say a word.
