I’m 58 and disabled. When I get on a bus, I expect to get a front seat. However, they are all occupied by young idiots who think being addicted to their electronic devices is a disability, not stupidity. I will tell the OP when I tell them: When you get old and people treat you like shit, just remember this moment. And if you think you won’t get old, you are sadly mistaken. ---

Speak up for yourself then. You sound capable of that. I for one would gladly give you my seat, but I don’t consider it my responsibility to constantly scan for needy disabled people. I’m going to read my newspaper (a real paper one) and if you need my seat, say “excuse me.” And hey, if your disability isn’t obvious, nobody wants to ask just because you look old, because that says “you look old.” ---

My wife just turned 50, she’s had mobility issues for years and sometimes has to use a cane, it’s weird but for the most part it’s the elderly that are the least considerate if not outright rude. My wife has the ‘gift’ and can drop a line or look that conveys volumes. 🙂 ---

I think the part of the thread title **old people** is unfair. Why not **old A’holes** (or similar)? There would be much more agreement, and much less offense taken. We can agree that some, few, even most of any group may be creeps, but certainly not all, and that’s what the title implies. Ageism should be no more acceptable than racism. ---
