That is why I’m doing this without any bad feelings toward the board in general, and I do wish everyone else here well. Well this is where being in the Straight Dope is worthwhile. You see the Straight Dope is almost completely worthless! What you say here matters not one iota in the scheme of things, so it is a great place to work out such things as a tendancy to snipe rather than ignore being sniped at. It provides a place where utter valueless rudeness is moderated against, but where you can communicate with blockheads and geniuses to hone your skills in an enviroment that doesn’t risk upsetting people you know in real life. ---

Hey? Who left this door open? Someone just leave? Don’t worry **MM** - I’ll carry on the good fight for you. (I crack myself up). Seriously, I don’t anticipate even reading, let alone responding to much of what the nearly departed - and a few others of a similar bent - post. Of course, I spend far less time sharing and debating political perspectives since learning in the last presidential election that a majority of voters apparently agree with **MM**. At this point I’m pretty convinced that there is a quite lengthy list of issues on which I strongly differ from many other people. I’m comfortable with my positions and know why I hold them. I have heard the arguments for the other side, and reject them. At this point, I see no reasonable possibility of either of us swaying the other, so I choose to not even exert the effort. Leave, or stay. Hope you have a good life. I intend to. ---

I’d like to say that sometimes when I want opinions on a current event, I pop over to GD. I’m fairly liberal, but also fairly open minded and far more fiscally conservative than a lot of my liberal friends. If I don’t have a firm opinion, I’ll weigh the opinions of others. I’m one of those tomndebb is writing to. And I’ve changed my mind about a few things. But you won’t necessarily find me posting to GD anymore - I used to and got fed up with it after 9/11. The tone changed - we lost the philosophy and went all partisan politics all the time. Anyway, good luck Mr. Moto. If you choose to stick around, and post in a reasonable fashion (i.e. I leave when the thread turns to nothing but partisan sniping and irrelevant information), I’ll read it. ---
