goodness, that is scary. i’m glad hubby was there to help you and that both of you didn’t have a visit at the burn ward.
you have reinforced my anti gas stance (as my hair is the longest its been in 10 years). i’ve seen way to many kitchen accidents (church kitchen, not mine) to ever feel comfortable around gas stoves.

Catching on fire anytime is bad, but I can’t think of a place I’d prefer it didn’t happen any more than in church.

Glad to hear you (both) survived the burning hair incident. Condolances on the transformation of so much hair into ash.
I have a similar story from earlier this year. Although I always tell it as
“You know you’re getting old when … your birthday candles set your hair on fire”
The silly thing is that I only had the final digit of my age worth of candles on the cake. Luckily for me, my best friend promptly whapped me upside the head until the flames were out. She apologized about hitting me for weeks afterward … and I kept thanking her for it. The coolest thing about it though, was that her hubby was taking the obligatory “blow out the candles” photo at the time, so I have a shot of flames licking up my head. I too had the pile of hair ash and stink to deal with. Although I didnt lose (nor have to lose) as much as you, I have reverted back to long layers in my hair since that’s the style the fire demons clearly wanted me to have.

The bartender’s hair caught on fire about a month ago, and lucky me, I missed it. She’s fine, but was growing her hair long for her wedding, which is the crappy part.
Glad you ladies are okay. Please count me as another, “Hair on fire = Bad. New haircut = Good!” Crisitunity!

It’s good, so good, that you’re safe.
My girlfriend in high school told me of a day when she was very young. The house had an old-fashioned stove with no pilot light. You had to turn the gas on, and light it with a wooden match. Her sister lit the oven, but she took a little too long to get the match lit. She leaned into the oven with the match, and **whoomp!** She was knocked off her feet, and the fire in her hair spread to her clothes. She was taken to the hospital, and she didn’t come back. As my girlfriend saw it, she had watched her sister die.
