The _Atlantic_ is not the only respected publication expressing dismay at Biden’s condition and the clear signs that he’s on a path to giving the election away to the most dangerous man who could possibly occupy the Oval Office. The _New York Times_, the _New Yorker_, and many others have said the same. 2. For whatever reason of history or happenstance, my magazine of choice is the _New Yorker_, not the _Atlantic_, so I’m not familiar with what writers at the _Atlantic_ may or may not have said about Trump. But I can assure you that at the _New Yorker_, which has been expressing shock and dismay at Biden’s deterioration, the criticism of Trump has been relentless. The magazine’s editor-in-chief, David Remnick, wrote a powerful, scathing editorial about the extreme dangers of Trump way back in 2016. 3. The dismay about Biden and the hope that he decides to step down in the best interests of a nation in peril happens to align with my own views. ---

In a normal election year, I might agree with you. I’m also leery of Biden’s age (although I think he has done a great job, much better than expected given the circumstances). But this is not a normal election. This election is not between two candidates who offer differing views on policy. This is between a normal (if old) candidate and one who, with his supporters, is overtly committed to overthrowing our democracy - to seizing power, not relinquishing it, depriving all of us of basic rights. We cannot let that effort succeed. If this was last year AND there was another credible candidate who looked like he or she had a good chance of beating Trump - I would have been OK with it. But it’s late in the game and I don’t see anyone on the horizon who can pull it off. We can’t take the chance of Trump winning and I don’t see how we do that at this point without Biden, for better or worse. ---

You slice it in 1/4" rounds, dip it in an egg wash, crust it with Panko, deep fry it briefly, then serve with Ranch dressing to dip it in. Delicious, but not terribly healthful! I do know how to make it in healthful ways that are reasonably tasty, but because of the childhood memories, I rarely reach for it. A local barbecue place sometimes does fried zucchini with the most delicious remoulade sauce. I haven’t been going there very often, so I think I missed it this year. The season is too short. 😢 Otherwise I’m not a big fan of zucchini. The texture is unpleasant to me. But I will try the zucchini cake recipe when the universe is kind enough to bring a zucchini my way. ---
