# I'm rather upset about work. This morning I got called into a meeting room at like 9:00 AM where I was asked flat out " Have you been drinking?" What! In all honesty I had 2 beers last night and although they were 500 ml and mixed with Clamato, I probably had my last swig at something like 10:00 PM last night! This bothers me on multiple levels. Something like 10 hours had passed since I had a drink, AND it seriously was only two 500 ml, 6.5% beers. OK. I don’t eat breakfast, and I didn’t have a morning coffee, so maybe, just maybe if you’re Superman or something you detected something on my breath, but holy shit that was awkward. And now, of course, I’m pissed off that this happened. I know exactly who it was because he’s the only one I talked to first thing in the morning. I don’t know how to forgive this jackass or get over it. I sit at a desk. I’m not operating heavy machinery, and REALLY, two beers like 10 hours previously? Fucking asshole. I was already on shaky ground with shit going on in my life: selling house, etc. We’re a small group of 25ish people, and now 4 or 5 of them think I’m drinking in the morning at, or before work. If you really had two 6.5% beers 10 hours earlier, you would not have tested positive for alcohol unless you have the slowest metabolism in the world. I doubt they can do anything to you without actually testing you. So, I wouldn’t worry. ---

No, no, no…start stumbling into work, mumbling and giggling to yourself. In short, act _hammered_, but only when this co-worker can see you. Then, when they test you and you come up with ZERO blood alcohol, give them a little wink next time you are alone. ---

See, this is one reason why I love where I work. If my boss came up to me and asked me if I had been drinking, I’d say yes and tell him about the fresh keg in the kitchen so he could join me. ---

If you’ve got enough beer on your breath that someone thinks you’re showing up drunk, you probably need to make a point of drinking something non-alcoholic and maybe eating after you drink. If nothing else, if beer (and clam juice?) is hanging around on your breath the next day, your breath is likely not a good experience for others overall even on days where you’re not drinking. ---

The same people also exuded onion and garlic odors more than typical. Pantastic’s suggestion is likely a good one: if you’re someone who tends to give off an alcohol odor after even modest drinking, remember to eat some breakfast to help ameliorate it. ---
