I can’t help that you are wrong and have concocted some sort of extreme melodrama in your head. This is a trivial topic that I care very little about. I haven’t raked anyone over the coals, nor am I deeply offended. Someone can comment that something is offensive without being personally offended by it and actions can be jerkish without being malicious. When the jerkiness of a non-malicious act is pointed out to the perpetrator, they often choose not to repeat the action, thus reducing future jerky behavior and making the world better. Now you’ve made the world a bit worse to balance it out. Bravo! ---

What’s obvious is that you are basing your opinion on the topic on your personal feelings toward Idle Thoughts and the belief that since Idle Thoughts is nice, anything he does is automatically viewed in this light and anyone who says otherwise is a big meanie. I however, had never noticed the existence of Idle Thoughts beyond the fact that the name was familiar. No doubt I have read many postings by Idle Thoughts, but none stood out enough to distinguish him. I suppose I could look some up now and perhaps I would learn that his other postings reveal him to be an amazing and wonderful human being, but what difference would it make? My opinion of this behavior and its perpetrator are based only on this situation, whereas yours is based on a positive prejudice toward its perpetrator. There is nothing wrong with that obviously, but we are coming from two different places. If this prank had been pulled by a poster I already had positive feelings about, I’m sure that would color my opinion as well.
