# I'm retiring June 1st!

I had planned to wait until the mass exodus on October 1st, but the place was getting more and more abrasive on my brain. Then I had an asthma attack in the course of doing my job, and I asked myself WTF I was doing coming into that toxic place every day.

The first day after I told the benefits folks of my decision, I felt scared and disoriented. Six people told me I should wait. Screw 'em. It’s my life, and my poor brain. It’s my beat-up hands. I’m outa there. A gone cat.🆒 I feel lots better about it now.

Congrats, **AskNott**! I wouldn’t listen to what others say either, it ultimately comes down to what you want and what is best for you, and it sounds like you’re doing just that. Have fun, retirement is a blast (so I hear…)!

Congrats, **AskNott**! … I did similar about 18 months ago. It was not the best financial decisions – I would have been better off if I’d waited another couple years – but it was among the best emotional decisions I’ve ever made. I’m healthier and happier and doing things I enjoy but never had time to do.

After 27 yrs. at the same place, I bailed out this past December. Best decision I’ve ever made. I am saner than would’ve thought possible.  
Congrats; you’re gonna love it.
