Now I’m wondering what to do about it. I can’t really prove I got the salmonella from the place I know I got it, right? Although, Tuesday, I had oatmeal for breakfast, broccoli for lunch–both in my own kitchen; neither hotbed salmonella vectors–then chicken strips that night, one of which I noticed was suspiciously squishy in the center. Next day, I got salmonella. They’ll say I got it somewhere else. I’d have to sic the health department on them, right? But, should I try to get my hospital bill covered before I do that? I can’t pay a lawyer, so I’m still trying to make sense of this on my own. ---

It’s pretty hard to prove. Salmonella’s incubation period can vary as much as three days. Public Health is your best bet. They would go in, unannounced, and check the way everything is handled. You’d have a better case, if other people got sick in the same time frame. The health dept, would have a list ot other complaints about the place too. If they’ve had other violations you’d have a better case. When Round Head in a Crate got dinged for E-coli, they didn’t admit anything until 5 kids were hospitalized. ---

I was already not excited by that bar’s food, but after seeing their [King County restaurant inspection results](http://www.decadeonline.com/insp.phtml?agency=skc&forceresults=1&record_id=PR0002066), I think I’ll stick to hard cider.
