But the opportunity to walk the Colosseum at the height of its popularity, surrounded by actual Romans, seeing the fabled gladiator fights … can’t pass it up. And as has also been noted, you can look out over Rome to see the ruins of today in all their original splendor. That would be an unbelievable opportunity. ---

What are the equestrians, and what do you mean by the middle classes? Would the Senators be in the front row, or high up at one end with the emperor’s family? Would I be unable to hoot and holler if I were sitting with them? (Oh, yeah, they can’t see or hear me anyway, right?) I’d need a tour guide/translator. ---

See the link in the OP for layout; Senators and the patrician class would be up close in the front row. You can do the funky chicken if you want, but nobody will see you. You can’t take anything back aside from the clothes on your back; if you record the event or bring binoculars you’re cutting in to my profits! ---

I don’t get the immoral argument. It’s not like you are affecting society either then or now. You are a ghost. All you can bring back are memories. If you tell your story to someone else they’ll just assume you are delusional (except for us here at the dope, we believe you). It’s time travel for crissakes! You can face the other way and watch the crowd if the blood part bothers you. Time travel to anything, anywhere, anytime would be cheap at 10x the price.
