I'm shocked. I'm horrified. Oooh... I just wasted a cow. Sweet!

Prices are in pounds, so it’s not a US site.

Sorry.

I was speeding through San Franciso the other day in my Audi and I took out some guy in a suit. I’ll admit that I was driving really fast but the dumbass wasn’t watching where he was going so in some way he deserved it.

Okay, I saw him strolling along and made it a point to try and hit him. He saw me coming and tried to run but he was a tad too late. He flew a long ways.

It felt good. Am I sick?

Good thing I was just testing Midtown Madness at the store and not really on the street. The clerk didn’t know that you could run down pedestrians…when I left he was hunting for a few “walkers” himself…

Carma is a great stress reliever, especially after putting up with the jerks who drive on the roads here.

I only played Carmageddon 2. I don’t even try to finish the races Ijust go around and hit people. Redneck Rampage 2 was pretty fun for the same sort of stress relief.

I used to play a game called Car Wars. It was a Steve Jackson Game. That was both mindless fun and mentally stimulating.

Cars? Back in my date, we didn’t have cars. We used to go jousting on horseback and we liked it that way.

Zebra,

Autoduel was based on Car Wars!

Thanks for the link, mrblue!

Only Car Wars I know is a card game… are we talkng about the same thing?

I guess this is better than Cow Hunter then?

Pshaw! Why in MY day we didn’t have fancy things like armored codpieces and damsels. We just hopped on our chariots half naked and raced around in a big, dumb circle. If you broke a wheel or your horse ruptured a fuel line and exploded, you ended up trampled to death by your competitors. And we loved it!

Sigh.

This is what I get for not remembering the vast majority of the 1980s.

Disclaimer: No cows were squished in the making of this post.

I’d love to join in on the fun, but the graphics in that game suck! That or I’m doing something wrong. I don’t know but I’m getting bummed.

Is there something to change around in it because it DOS based?

I mean, I can barely make out the people getting squashed! I’ve spent about an hour updating my Vodoo3 card, changing settings around, everything… to no avail. They still suck wind.

Half-life looks great, but these games always look like hell.

Harrumph and fiddlesticks! You had wheels? In my day, we just jumped astraddle a passing bison and steered it by kicking it in the head. You won if you could steer your bison over a cliff.

I remember an airplane game about 20 years ago in college. You’d get so many points for shooting one down. The pilot would bail out, and you lost a lot of points for shooting him. Most of the games I saw had negative point totals. you see, he screamed if you shot him “by accident”…

You think squashing cows is bad??? I’ve been elf-bowling all night. More fun than I can say.

Does anyone remember Death Track? It was not only shooting the other cars, but also racing. If you did good you got money and could buy new weapons and engines and such. The characters were cool, but I only remember an itty bit of the game.

Bought Autoduel the instant it came out for the C64. Loved it.

Yeah, would be fun to update that game…Hmmmmm.

(Am semiseriously planning on running a Carwars game at the 2001 Baycon with souped up Hotwheels. Should be fun. )

I LOVE NFSIII. I used to play it at home all the time! However: since 1-1-2000, I haven’t been able to play the game. It won’t start up anymore, even after a re-install. Does anyone have similar problems?

You can hit pedestrians in Midtown Madness 2??? I have the first one, and they always jump out of the way or lean up against the nearest wall when you get too close. Technically you CAN make your car occupy the same space as them, but it has no effect. I heard this was so they can keep an E rating. If Midtown Madness 2 allows you to actually hit the pedestrians, I will probably buy it (I was considering it anyway) - even if they just get up again.
