Huh. I’m getting a sense that Mrs. Clinton is a polarizing figure, even among Democrats. Maybe the party would best be served if they nominated someone that wasn’t as polarizing. ---

I think the level of emotion is also very high because the Kerry candidacy was so disappointing, and Hillary appears to have many of the same vulnerabilities. It would be nice if the party learned a lesson or two from its failures. ---

I think people might need to grasp the fact that Hillary is just UNLIKABLE. I can’t stand the shifty non-gender-specific-insulting-noun. If a poll told her that most Americans would vote for her if she started dressing like Capn Crunch, you’d see her out there in an admiral’s hat the next day. ---

Oh, screw “likeability”! I don’t like Hillary either, but can’t tell you why. I can tell you what particular points of her politics I don’t like (too “centrist”, triangulated, Republican Lite…)but can’t tell you why I don’t like _her_. I also have to admit that I like some people I shouldn’t, I know some amoral assholes that would sell a blind man a rat’s asshole for a wedding ring, that I like. Don’t approve of them, just like them. I also know any number of perfectly nice people who I cannot stand. Remember “who would you rather have a beer with - Bush or Gore”? Gee, that standard of judgement sure served us well, didn’t it? Gore is boring. I didn’t used to like boring. But after eight years of really interesting times, I’m totally ready for some boring. ---

Why are we STILL hearing about that asinine “pimping” remark after the guy apologized and was suspended? That’s right, because Clinton has to keep bringing it up into the spotlight for another couple inches of newsprint with her name on it. ---

You seem to be under the impression I’m defending her. I’m not. I voted for Obama and will be sincerely disappointed if he doesn’t get the nom. This isn’t about that. It is, as I said, just like Brittney Spears. And Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan and Amy Winehouse and Mel Gibson, and… insert name here of any other weirdo papparazzi addicted celeb who just can’t seem to stop intentionally screwing themselves for fun and profit if a camera is pointed their way, but everyone swears up and down they cannot stand to look at one more time. We like train wrecks. They’re fun. The schedenfreude seems to be hardwired into our systems. ---

An anecdote that amused me: I’m an Obama supporter. My wife and I were watching 60 Minutes last night (first story was Obama, second was Clinton). In the middle of the Clinton story, I exlaimed, “Gah, she’s so incredibly _awful_!” My wife sorta took offense and was beginning to get huffy, when I replied, “No, it’s not _Clinton_ that’s awful. _Katie Couric_ is just mind-numbingly _terrible_!” Fortunately for me, my wife agrees. ---

Thanks for the clarification; though I was just joking back. If I was aware of that at some point in the past, it’s been permanently wiped from my memory. And I’ll endeavor to do a similar thing again now that you’ve brought it up. It’s not clear to me which is worse: Couric’s televised colonoscopy or when Reagan’s polyps were plastered all over the front page. **shudder** ---
