Ok here comes the GIOG gallop again, first thing in the morning. It’s like clockwork. The only question is, which topic will he post in first? Will he read this before he responds with yet another wall of copy and paste nonsense? Will he make a point? Will he comment on this post in another thread? Stay tuned. It’s the never ending energizer bunny of skepticalscience to the rescue. And btw, everybody I know who lives up north is really sick of the global warming. Seriously, and with this next brutal cold coming, it’s not even funny at this point. Meanwhile, in Florida, we are actually having one of the warmest, wettest, and enjoyable winters in recorded history. Except for having to run the AC, because of the heat and humidity, it’s fantastic. Even the ocean is warm. Global warming, bring it on. ---

The Pacific Northwest has been having a brutally frigid winter. Snow actually fell _ **twice** _. God, I hope the glaciers don’t start expanding again. ---

I hate to tell ya, but glaciers on Mount St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Shuksan, and Mount Shasta are expanding. Don’t take my word for it, check and see. ---

Some are, some aren’t. The issue is whether the glacier is mature yet. Some of these mountains are still hot, and that melts the snow off. On the other hand, Mt Hood in particular has her glacier retreating. So, it’s cause either by global warming or it’s a precursor to an eruptive event. No one can say for sure which. ---

In climate science, trends matter more than an anomaly. It’s why no one year or event is considered climate. It’s why saying “warmest January ever!” means very little, but looking at [a trend that shows large cooling](http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/nmaps.cgi?year_last=2014&month_last=1&sat=4&sst=3&type=trends&mean_gen=01&year1=2002&year2=2014&base1=1990&base2=2002&radius=250&pol=rob) does matter. ---

Global Average Temperatures have been rising for 10,000 years. Fourth warmest in 135 years breaks down to an event that occurs every 34 years … barely climatically significant. Much much colder than the Miocene. ---
