# I'm sick of this Global Warming!

Getting back to the SCIENCE! of it all, the February data is up at GISS, and [the 20 year winter trend is clear and impossible to deny](http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/nmaps.cgi?year_last=2014&month_last=2&sat=4&sst=3&type=trends&mean_gen=1203&year1=1995&year2=2014&base1=1951&base2=1980&radius=250&pol=rob).
[The February trend is almost unbelievable](http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/nmaps.cgi?year_last=2014&month_last=2&sat=4&sst=3&type=trends&mean_gen=02&year1=1995&year2=2014&base1=1951&base2=1980&radius=250&pol=rob), but the NCDC data confirms it.
Some uniformed people think I am somehow “against” climate change, which I find laughable. Clearly the GISS data I just linked to shows climate change is happening. How much is from human activities is a question we would all like to know.
[The NH summer trend](http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/nmaps.cgi?year_last=2014&month_last=2&sat=4&sst=3&type=trends&mean_gen=0603&year1=1995&year2=2013&base1=1951&base2=1980&radius=250&pol=rob) shows how we are seeing this strange asymmetrical change. What is causing this?

Talk about stupid! Climate change has been happening constantly since the earth’s inception. It’s gotten colder (surely you’ve heard of ice ages) and it’s gotten warmer. Sure, there’s been a recent warming trend. And thank God. 30,000 years or so ago Manhattan was under about a mile of ice. Come to think of it, I guess that could be attributed to man, too. If only they didn’t discover how to make those damn fires to keep warm, cook food and keep away sabertooth tigers. Damn them!

You’re stupid and immune to facts. For this I cite your strident opposition to gay marriage, even though you have never once presented an argument not based on bigotry for its banning.
That said, because I hold hope that others reading may actually be willing and or able to be persuaded, I will address your histrionic bleating:
The Earth does vary its temperature over time. And Humanity is likely to survive any reasonable variation.
But survival isn’t the same thing as thriving. The Earth has been both hotter and colder in the past, sure. But we have constructed our civilization, now. With the current coastlines and with cities in their current places. If we artificially raise the temperature of the world (which we are doing, at least according to the vast majority of experts) then we jeopardize the current situation.
Consider if a coastal city is flooded. The people must go somewhere. Suddenly there is a huge shock to economies as the displaced go swarming inland. This is a bad thing. Consider if the water that supplies the western US dries up. Without water you could displace tens of millions of Americans. Or necessitate huge construction of desalinization projects that would balloon our deficits.

Question: Do you think science has advanced since the 90s? How’s your 1990s supercomputer fare up against one from 2014?

As an argument against anthropogenic climate change, this is about at the level of “If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?” as an argument against evolution. You could hardly post anything to make you look stupider. But it’s clear you don’t care about either looking, or being, stupid.

Are you seriously saying that ALL global warming is caused by man-kind, and that there is NO natural climate change? Why the fuck are you blaming women as well? All we’re asking is what part of global warming is caused by man-types. The latest predictions from the IPCC: We’ll be experiencing both bone-dry droughts AND killing floods !!! Hundreds of billions of peoples will be forced from their homes and cities from rising sea-levels !!! Okay, _ **these thing HAVE BEEN HAPPENING** _ for the past 10,000 years without any help from men (or women).
The arguments against evolution are: 1] We don’t currently don’t have the chemical equations for the reactions at took chemicals that aren’t life and made them chemicals that are life, 2] Life evolving on Earth is unique in the universe (Fermi’s paradox), and 3] Dumbasses confuse extraordinary usefulness with scientific proof, like Newton’s Laws of Motion.

The 1990s ??? You must be young, everything in the IPCC was known back in the 1970s, when your _parents_ were in diapers. Did you know there were solar panels on the White House roof back then? Geez … I got my start in business doing the weatherization program in the early 80s. By the way, I believe in AGW if it is defined as the claim that mankind’s activities are likely to cause an increase in global surface temperatures.
Unfortunately, many, perhaps most warmers don’t have a clear understanding of what they believe in so fervently. So it’s impossible to engage with them rationally.

This is quite evident when the ardent warmer declares, and I think they actually mean it, that “nobody predicted winters would become warmer, due to AGW”.
Of course if we were still seeing a rapid warming trend for NH winters, they would just as ardently declare it proves AGW is happening. Which is why AGW appears as pseudoscience, rather than science.

He contributed his incredible stupidity as a poster. He either can’t read or he’s trying to put words in my mouth. Possibly both. While I would have taken him to task for this regardless of his position, the fact that he holds such a position while exhibiting such exceeding dumbassness and/or dishonesty makes his trip to Stupid Town all that much more WTF and worthy of being called out.
