Also, please let me know what you mean by “global warming” – is it simply the claim that global surface temperatures have been increasing? Or something more?

That being said, [Florida for December 2010](http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/nmaps.cgi?sat=4&sst=3&type=anoms&mean_gen=12&year1=2010&year2=2010&base1=1951&base2=1980&radius=250&pol=rob) was the coldest December since records have been kept. It was unbelievable actually.

This past winter was the first I remember where there was not a single frost or freeze, and I had to run the AC, not every day, but definitely every week.

It reads like you would expect something called “10. Key Economic Sectors and Services” to read.

The scientific minded already know why record cold debunks “global warming”, and no amount of newspeak or attempts to shove past predictions down the [memory hole](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_hole) will change this.

It’s worse than that, he actually used the fallacy, while attempting to counter a point of fact. Not that he realizes it, or can even realize it. It should be simple to explain, but it’s not.
I wish it was that simple. None of it is that simple, in fact, it’s so complicated that just trying to get the basics communicated is an impossible task, all the more so since the willful ignorance and not so subtle censorship of ideas, combined with the noise level and sheer idiocy of the true believers, turns the entire thing into a sickening morass of ignorance.
Meanwhile, reality is still firmly in place, with more record cold and snow coming, and yes, in Chicago once again. But the true believer doesn’t bat an eye, or even think about it. It’s truly Orwellian, all the more so since there is no need for anyone to prompt them, they automatically adjust their thoughts so that now record cold means global warming.
It’s so damn 1984 it’s fucking creepy.
COLDER IS WARM
SNOW IS WARMING
COLDEST WINTER EVER MEANS WARMING
If four months of the coldest weather EVER on record for Chicago won’t matter, then what will? When it’s shown that it’s part of a trend, it doesn’t matter.
When it’s shown that extreme economic damage has happened from the cold, it doesn’t matter.
Of course it’s not just Chicago, it’s a huge area of the north American continent, but that also doesn’t matter.
The eastern and central Pacific ocean is cooling, that doesn’t matter.
The global mean is cooling, that doesn’t matter. It’s due to the extreme cold in NH winters, that doesn’t matter.
Lock the topic, and punish anyone who starts anything close to such a topic. That’s what matters.
Not science, not reality, not what actually is happening, none of that actually matters to the global warmer. All that can be handwaved away, ignored, to the true global warmer, there isn’t anything that can disprove their belief. It’s as ironclad as gravity. Anyone who even tries to point out the ignorance of it all, they must be mad.
Priceless.

I would say it’s worse than that. If one day things started falling upwards, I would admit that my understanding of gravity is probably wrong.
On the other hand, if we entered a new ice age, I doubt that any warmers would admit to having been wrong. They would say “See, this is climate change at work. We were right all along.” Or they would say “We were only predicting a 90% chance of warming so this is consistent with our theory” Or they would say “The cooling is caused by natural forces, which at the moment are dominating the terrible warming which is bound to happen sooner or later.” Anything but admit to having been wrong.
