Except now, despite an annual rise, the winters are cooling there. And there is much more snow. Another death blow to the greenhouse theory predictions.

(there’s always a death blow)

Kudos to the paper for not mentioning global warming, which is reasonable, since it was as warm or far warmer there in 1906, 1954, 1931, 1895, etc etc

In fact, while looking at the data, it seems 1942 was a very unusual time for North Dakota in January. Record warmth, and it lasted for a long time.

Lowest temperature ever recorded on Earth happened in **[August, 2014, in Connecticut.](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2733941/Molecules-chilled-coldest-temperature-recorded-2-5-THOUSANDTHS-degree-absolute-zero.html)** If this trend continues, the earth will become a Bose-Einstein condensate in a matter of years, months, maybe even days.

Won’t have to worry about your global-warming-climate-shifty-changeyness then, will you librauls? Personally, I’m stocking up on guns, beer, gold, and electric blankets for the coming age of being transformed into boson soup.

Boson soup is a dish best served cold.

But superconductivity! We’ll just run a copper wire to Kilauea (which I can spell) or that gnarly Icelandic volcano (which I cannot) and thrive on the transmitted warmth.

Then a space elevator, so we can run a wire to the sun itself! And Dyson spheres! And zero-point energy. And that super magnetic generator thing that oil companies don’t want you to know about.

Every time, and I mean all the time, I decide to let this sickening thread die, just fucking die already, something happens. At first I thought it was an unusual event, but after carefully doing experiments, checking other threads, checking the numbers, I realized it’s not either chance, or some error involved.

It’s at least as fascinating as the fact that facts don’t seem to matter to human beings, if it means they have to change a single fucking thing. Even if the changes would benefit them, people really do not like being told to change anything about their special precious lives.

This is pretty old news to those who keep up with the global warming wars. What is so surprising is that many of the altered displays of “the temperature record” have been altered more than once. In fact, it seems they can be changed at will, but there is certainly no Universal agreement on the matter.

GISS doesn’t agree with NOAA, which differs from HADCRUT, and they all disagree with RSS, which also is slightly different than UAH, and none of them agree with BEST, and MERRA doesn’t always agree with ERA, nor does NCEP/DOE V2 agree with CFSR, it’s a goddamn nightmare for researchers at times.

Even NOAA differs from Rutgers on snow, and of course the sea ice and SSTs is a clusterfuck of apples and oranges.

I’ve avoided that shitstorm in this topic for the most part, because there is little doubt it would be as pleasant as debating the Hockey Stick graph or the question of the Holocene climatic optimum.

**Forum on climate change postponed due to snow**

> [@](#):
>
> “I hope these repeated, severe storms serve as a platform for some important conversations around bolstering our natural and built infrastructure against climate change once a new date has been set for this discussion,” said State Sen. Marc Pacheco (D-Taunton), who chairs the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change and organized the summit.
>
> The forum had been scheduled for Tuesday at the Statehouse, but the MBTA is shut down Tuesday as Massachusetts continues to dig out from an unprecedented amount of snowfall.

How ironic.

> [@](#):
>
> Pacheco’s forum was going to include numerous speakers from environmental organizations and academia as well as Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matthew Beaton, Senate President Stan Rosenberg (D-Amherst) and other legislators. Raymond Bradley, director of the Climate System Research Center at UMass Amherst, and Richard Palmer, a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UMass Amherst, were among those who had been slated to attend.

[Forum on climate change postponed due to snow - masslive.com](http://www.masslive.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/02/forum_on_climate_change_postpo.html)

If only it had been an unusually warm winter with no snow, then we would be hearing all about the forum, and how global warming is threatening industries and [how children just won’t know what snow is](http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/snowfalls-are-now-just-a-thing-of-the-past-724017.html).

Like last year, [when we were being told how snow was going away](http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/08/opinion/sunday/the-end-of-snow.html?_r=0), how horrible it all was, because of global warming. (based on [the 2012 report](http://www.nrdc.org/globalwarming/files/climate-impacts-winter-tourism-report.pdf) which left no doubt how snow was vanishing from climate change)

Of course if they had jumped on board with Cohen’s new theory (back in 2007 no less) they could be spinning a very cold winter, with record snow, as due to global warming. They really need to get their shit together. The longer they wait before changing the story, the less chance anyone will believe it,

After the three-week snow siege that has smashed records in parts of New England, including Boston, Worcester and Bangor. it hardly needs saying, the terrible toll global warming is taking already. Just as the IPCC and numerous experts have been warning us about, for decades now, the true horror of AGW is impossible to deny any longer. Those poor people trapped in unbelievable snow and cold, if only they had switched to solar and windmills, and stopped burning fuels, we might have avoided this sort of thing. And of course all the fossil fuels being used to try and clear the streets and train tracks, and to keep warm, it is just making it worse.

You might ask what they are supposed to use instead of oil to heat and run equipment, to keep civilization going in the midst of such terrible global warming? Yes, that is the question. If burning fuels actually caused this, (and Trenberth himself has claimed this is the case now), what is the alternative? How are we to grow food, transport it, have water and light and heat, what is the alternative? Shit is getting serious, with the good chance of yet ANOTHER GODDAMN BLIZZARD slamming into the northeast US this weekend, what is to be done about it?

And the really big question, is it really from global warming? Because if we can say with certainty this is global warming, then certainly as lot of people can claim to be sick of it.

Did you know? Warmer temperatures lead to higher amounts of water vapor in the air due to a process known as “evaporation”.

> **[Water as a Climate Change Solution | US EPA](https://www.epa.gov/climate-change-water-sector)**
>
> Learn what EPA is doing to support states, communities, and the water sector in their efforts to adapt to a changing climate.

> [@](#):
>
> The Water Cycle
>
> The water cycle is a delicate balance among precipitation, evaporation, and all the steps in between. Warmer temperatures increase the rate of evaporation of water into the atmosphere, in effect increasing the atmosphere’s capacity to “hold” water. Increased evaporation may dry out some areas causing moisture to fall as excess precipitation on other areas.
> Changes in the amount of rain falling during storms provide evidence that the water cycle is already being affected. Over the past 50 years, the amount of rain falling during the most intense 1 percent of storms increased by almost 20 percent. Warmer winter temperatures cause more precipitation to fall as rain rather than snow. Furthermore, rising temperatures cause snow to begin melting earlier in the year. This alters the timing of streamflow in rivers whose sources are in mountainous areas.

More evaporation, and more water in the air, during the winter?

Let’s go monosyllabic to make things easier for some to follow along with:

It… mean… more… snow… fall.

Did you know? The amount of actual snowfall in a place like Antarctica,\*\* the coldest fucking place on earth\*\*, is so low, it is considered a desert.

> **[Climate of Antarctica](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_Antarctica)**
>
> The climate of Antarctica is the coldest on Earth. The continent is also extremely dry (it is a desert), averaging 166 mm (6.5 in) of precipitation per year. Snow rarely melts on most parts of the continent, and, after being compressed, becomes the glacier ice that makes up the ice sheet. Weather fronts rarely penetrate far into the continent, because of the katabatic winds. Most of Antarctica has an ice-cap climate (Köppen classification EF) with extremely cold and dry weather.
> The highest ...

“Extremely dry”

“Technically a desert”

(The cold-and-dry kind) Yes, those are a thing.

And if temperatures increase globally, that can change, leading to **more snowfall (and rainfall) in cold climates,** and increased spreading of other kinds of deserts (the hot-and-dry kind) in warmer climates.

:smack: \<------------I believe this is the smiley face you need to use after every single one of your posts.

Hot deserts- the water that is there, or that precipitates there, evaporates and goes elsewhere.

Cold deserts- the water that is there, stays there as ice, so it gradually accumulates even though it is otherwise quite dry. But it is solid, not liquid, water.

Temperature change -----\> Increase?

Hot deserts remain hot. Water continues to evaporate and not collect there, spreading the desert.

Cold deserts will collect even more snow than they already are.

This. Is. Not. Difficult. To. Follow.

Assuming one understands how water behaves at temperatures found on planet earth, but I guess this is quite a leap for some.
