The new Obama plan to curtail emissions … revolutionary or business-as-usual? Here’s the [AP story](http://news.yahoo.com/obama-mandate-steeper-emissions-cuts-us-power-plants-090146615--politics.html#) … actually a nice piece of journalism, maybe not completely balanced, but far better than most. Using domestic coal was a major tenant of Reagan’s Energy Plan … is it time yet to say it was completely wrong? ---

You can’t rebut something that millions of college professors accept, using only junior-high-school level science. You sound like a 1970s creationist, trying to argue that evolution violates the laws of thermodynamics. This argument is so stupid, even Answers in Genesis has asked people to stop using it. ---

As long as we’re clear that energy is conserved in the _ **Earth’s** _ atmosphere, billions of people understand there’s no nuclear reactions going on in our atmosphere. The _actual_ AGW theory doesn’t violate the Laws of Thermodynamics, so if you’re preaching hypercanes and hockey sticks, you’d be using some other theory. ---

Energy is not conserved in the earth’s atmosphere. It can get hotter, by trapping heat, in which case it is taking in more energy than it lets go again. You appear to be hellishly ignorant regarding the foundations of science. Graduate from high school and then come back. ---

I’m not looking back so I may be mistaken but I think this kid posted in this thread some time ago unclear of what the most basic scientific terms meant. Like theory and hypothesis. ---

[This](https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/service/global/map-blended-mntp/201401-201412.gif) has probably been posted already, so just pretend there is an echo in here. It is a global map of average temperature changes in 2014 relative to a 1981-2010 base period. Colors indicate where in the world it got hotter or cooler. I think we can tell at a glance that the world overall is warming, and other data confirm this. But! Look closer! There are (relatively small, globally speaking) spots where temperatures went down! Holy cats, one of those spots is over North America!! It’s a gift from Providence, proof that America really is the greatest country on Earth!!! ---
