Gaia is trying to slaughter us off, she is to be subdued and controlled if we wish to survive. Otherwise, we will be evolving into something else.

Can’t this goddamn polar “vortex” make up its mind? Causing both global warming AND global cooling at the same time, indecisive son of bitch…
How are we supposed to save the planet??

This recent polar vortex (a.k.a. Planetary Wave in the archaic) is a function of Dynamic Meteorology, which involves a level of mathematical understanding that drives the stupid into Climatology … but that’s just my personal opinion. It would occur even with climate stability, it’s a completely normal phenomenon with an abundance of historical precedence.

Oh look! A rodent has joined Harry and Lloyd in the love fest! So the rumor is true, it just didn’t involve Richard Gere.

It’s really funny how the true believers don’t actually know anything about the subject they are so passionate about. It’s like a bible thumper who hasn’t actually read his bible trying to argue with a biblical scholar or some other tortured analogy.

The only thing they are good at is insults.

No wait, they even suck at that.

I don’t know a lick of physics, and my last math class was Geometry as a sophomore in high school over 36 years ago. I don’t need to know either of those subjects to appreciate our scientific ability to launch a probe and use gravity to guide it into a comet traveling thousands of miles per hour through space.

My lack of understanding doesn’t change the fact that scientists can and do figure these things out and accomplish amazing things. While I can’t do the science, I can appreciate its application and results.

My lack of understanding doesn’t change the fact that scientists in multiple areas of study have confirmed that Climate Change is a real phenomenon, one that will have significant impact on the world and our lives.

Small correction: it is one that has been having significant impacts … it’s an ice age, you expected jungles pole to pole?

Would you mind defining the phrase “Climate Change” for me?

Do you simply mean that the climate is changing without any claim as to the cause of the change; the nature of the change; or the severity of the change?

Or do you mean something else?

“My lack of understanding doesn’t change the fact”, cause even when I don’t understand something, if the Government people say something, I can know it is true and stuff.

I love your eternal optimism, or your hilarious tactic of always asking somebody to explain what they mean.

Either way it’s funny shit there.

(the eternal optimism is that it seems like you still think somebody will actually answer)

Ah … the guy deserves a definition …

“Climate is a measure of the average pattern of variation in temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, atmospheric particle count and other meteorological variables in a given region over long periods of time. Climate is different than weather, in that weather only describes the short-term conditions of these variables in a given region.” — Wikipedia

Any change in any of these six average measurements would constitute a “Climate Change”. Global Warming is the first metric rising, with a vast variety of things happening to the other five. AGW is man’s contribution to the first metric… say above paleolithic levels.

In that case, I don’t think there is any serious dispute that Climate Change - as you have defined it – is real. For example, that there have been ice ages in the past.

**citizenzen** , is that your definition? If so, I have some news for you: Grass is green, the sky is blue, and a dollar is worth a hundred cents.

Something I find quite fucked up, is how even past climate change is an issue of serious fuckery in the climate science field. For example, while now, in the present, volcanoes are considered a short term cooling when they blow into the stratosphere, somehow during the littler ice age they caused hundreds of years of extreme cooling.

Why would somebody claim that? Because up until recently it was thought the quiet sun was the cause of the cold period. And when it became active the planet warmed up again. But that places the sun as a prime mover of climate change. So the CO2 nutjobs had to come up with a way to make the sun not matter. (after they failed in the attempt to show the little ice age didn’t actually happen)

How did things get so fucked up with climate science?

Climate Change, as defined by [NASA](http://climate.nasa.gov), the [IPCC](http://www.ipcc.ch), [EPA](http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/), etc.

Government isn’t science.

I would hope you could distinguish between the two.

In the NASA website, the top navigation links are …

[Key Indicators](http://climate.nasa.gov/key_indicators)
[Evidence](http://climate.nasa.gov/evidence)
[Causes](http://climate.nasa.gov/causes)
[Effects](http://climate.nasa.gov/effects)

Within those pages, you should be able to get a “definition” of what Climate Change is.
However, for those in need of a more typical form of a “definition”, one can be found in the EPA’s site, [Glossary of Climate Change Terms](http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/glossary.html#C).

Here is how they define the term “Climate Change” …

> [@](#):
>
> **Climate Change**
>
> Climate change refers to any significant change in the measures of climate lasting for an extended period of time. In other words, climate change includes major changes in temperature, precipitation, or wind patterns, among others, that occur over several decades or longer.

Ok, that means anyone who accepts that there have been ice ages in the past accepts that “Climate Change” is real.

Guess what: Grass is green; the sky is blue; and the Pope is Catholic.
