I'm sick of this Global Warming!

From another tyhread

I actually am, especially since changes other than CO2 seem to be influencing both the temperatures, as well as precipitation. Is it at a level that could effect the global heat balance? I’m currently reading a nre book that focuses on land use changes, and I find these things to be more immediate and drastic, in regards to regional and possibly hemispheric changes in climate patterns.

The big problem is that we actually don’t now enough about weather/climate to know what is “normal”, much less what the “natural” influences are.

No. We do know enough. We know enough to know that anthropological climate change is happening.

The only things we don’t know are how much we are changing things, and how much (if at all) we can alter our behavior and change the impact from negative to something more positive.

Of course idiots like you and the other one in this thread conflate these differences of opinions as some kind of controversy over climate change in general. Which isn’t the case.

Scientists know climate change is happening. The debate is how far in we are and whether we can dig ourselves out.

The problem is that further research costs money. And too many idiots in positions of power who listen to the nonsense are wasting time.

There’s a good reason he can’t. His app doesn’t have a canned response to copy and paste.

Such a meaningless statement means nothing.

I think we all knew that was coming.

I am so tired of these people that spew stuff without proper qualifications. We need more student dissertations and hiking magazine articles to inspire us like they did the IPCC. We need more experts like AL Gore to carry us FORWARD.

Yes We Can!

I prefer the next post, personally.

But, but…FX is a SCIENTIST!!!11

Very nice. Here is a cookie. Now go play on the monkey bars until lunchtime.

And right after that, tomndebb closes the thread with no explanation. Guess RaftPeople was doing too good a job of shedding light on GIGO’s tactic of equating any questioning of the science with “DENIER!”.

My guess is that he emailed tom and threatened to release the pictures of Tom dressed up Justin Beiber unless he shut down the discussion. Or was it something to do with sheep? Whatever it is, it’s gotta be good.

Seriously, the RaftPeople’s exchange with GIGO was one of interesting substance. Give you a Warning? Okay. But close the thread when it had probably the best chance of eradicating ignorance? Tsk, tsk, tsk.

It seems even in the pit you can’t call certain people on their bullshit.

I got a warning for just linking to this thread from great debates.

ain’t that a hoot?

So anyone who claims to know whether or not CO2 emissions are the primary cause of 20th century warming is flat out wrong. Agreed?

Oh, really? That’s all we don’t know? That’s great news. So, we know there is climate change. Good. Now please list all the non-anthropologic factors that contribute to climate change and their corresponding percentages. One of the things I’m curious about is how you can know the answer to those things without knowing the overall percent that is not due man’s action.

We know what the total climate change is, what’s left is to establish what part of that change is natural. Then we can assess man’s contribution. Agriculture changes albedo, albedo changes solar flux at the Earth’s surface. Research continues …

Yeah … FX … you were limit testing on that other thread [wolfish grin]. I think that was a great catch getting Gigo to admit to using an app for his posts. I spoke privately with both those moderators and they’re just sick of babysitting. I think that Skeptical Science web site is poisoned now. There’s some good information there, but it’s self-published, intolerant of skeptics.

Burning fossil fuels to run your computer to post reasons to not burn fossil fuels.

My computer is nuclear powered. And I offset my small carbon footprint by planting trees. Not really worried about the CO2, I just like making money. And trees are money.

Trees pump out CO2 at night.

If it isn’t in the news in the U.S., it’s not for the lackof actualnews

You can tell it’s global warming, because before man started controlling the worlds climate, Australia never had a drought.

“Winters, during the El Niño effect, … significantly wetter winters are present in northwest Mexico and the southwest United States, including central and southern California.” – A sciencey sounding quote from a sciencey looking article on Wikipedia.

Just send the cats out dressed, I have a butcher who knows what I like.

Those must be magic armchairs.
