FX and others who think they’re being Zeno-like masters of intellectual balloon-popping, you might enjoy Nate Silver’s book The Signal and the Noise. There’s a whole chapter about the Greenhouse Effect and climate change.
Warning - it’s not just anecdotal evidence and sound bites!
[QUOTE=Frank Luntz]
“Climate change” is less frightening than “global warming”. As one focus group participant noted, climate change “sounds like you’re going from Pittsburgh to Fort Lauderdale.” While global warming has catastrophic connotations attached to it, climate change suggests a more controllable and less emotional challenge.

Prove to me you’re not a damned hypocrite – it’s been one year since Atlanta hit its all time record of 106 degrees on June 30 (since recording started in 1878). If you’re willing to base your assessment of current climate * change * on a single data point or even a single summer’s, then why weren’t you running around like Chicken Little a year ago?
Ah the godwin against climate denier idiots, it is indeed the most idiotic move to declare this a religion, when the deniers reach for that they are no different from the countless pseudo scientists and woo woo proponents that accuse scientists of following religion, indeed it is a very common tactic of deniers of science and it is no less idiotic when used elsewhere.
And also as pointed by other in the thread, it was a Republican idea to “change” the name, actually there was no change, Global Warming and Climate Change are terms that have been used for more then 80 years.
