It’s usually described as “snow cover”, but this includes snow depth, snow pack, snow extent, and snow fall. You know, the cold white stuff that global warming causes much more of.

Except of course in the past their were also extreme winters, record cold and a lot of snow, when the ice was extensive, and then global cooling was the reason for very cold winters.

I am totally behind living with out fossil fuels. The age old problem is that doing so is like living with out food or shelter. And with out the internet.

You are confusing a one month anomaly with the trends. The twenty year land trend globally shows cooling for Feb, as does the land/ocean trend, this is no secret.
It’s right there in the data.
The global NH winter trend shows up as well. Note that because this last winter was actually warm, globally, and especially in the NH, the trend for both Feb and winter is not as steep as it was last year.
This doesn’t matter in regards to the cooling trend for large areas of the NH, most obvious using even a 26 year trend for February. Global warming theory predicts the areas showing colder trends should be warming the fastest.
As I have said, it doesn’t mean CO2 isn’t effecting the climate, or that we are not seeing climate change. It just means the theory is wrong. Or incomplete. Or needs adjusting.
In any case, you need to pay more for fuel, and stop killing the planet.
To be fair, it’s really starting to look like the current climate change is lopsided, with the East getting the shit end of the stick in winter, and the West basking in warmth.
But since climate changes, this won’t always be the case.
Of course poor Australia seems to get the worst of it all year round.

And yet the data shows more sea ice “now” than ten years ago. “Now” of course a meaningless term if this post is read later on.
A more scientific way to put it would be, “on March 17 2015 the sat data shows more ice by far for the Atlantic side of the arctic, but less on the Pacific”. The ice looks much thicker near the pole, which would make sense with the epic cold this year.
But of course the media isn’t going to tell you this. Good news doesn’t gather rapt attention, create fear and tension, and it would really make them look like idiots.

Taken together, there is less Arctic ice now that at any time in at least the last 36 years. That is how averages work. But you would rather cherry-pick the areas that increased, and ignore the areas that decreased. That is the only way to keep the cognitive dissonance from setting your hair on fire.
Looking at the extent as well as mass data, it’s not significant either way. Less extent, but more mass.
Certainly the predicted arctic death spiral did not happen.
But no worries, somebody will find a way to make everything frightening.

Great Lakes shipping is being effected by the record ice on the lakes still. Record cold winters months were recorded globally for February.
From Columbia to Oslo, Saudi Arabia to the Great Lakes, winter still causing extreme problems.

It’s almost like somebody has a sense of ironic humor. I mean, it’s not even close to the previous record cold month. It’s so much colder it is mind boggling.
Does this mean there is no climate change? Of course not. The coldest winter month ever recorded actually shows climate change. Same for record lake ice, river ice, bays frozen, sea ice in Long Island and Cape Cod, it is certainly evidence of a change.
Satellite data shows it, even surface stations show the change. Anyone can look at it. (it’s not the just the northeast)

Welcome to global averages that confirm global warming, which is driving global climate change, producing local extremes on both ends of the spectrum. But it is global warming, because science says so.
It’s fascinating. No matter how many times he is told this simple fact, he still posts the same complete rubbish.
He is either very, very stupid and completely unable to grasp the differences between short term/long term and local/global, or he’s simply trolling with this garbage. Those are the only two explanations.
