I'm sick of this Global Warming!

Right. I posit that the dominant delta of the arctic would result in the forcing of cold arctic air into the jet stream. The increase in volume of arctic air (as defined by the polar front) due to warming is almost infinitesimal compared to its circumference, so I can see the jet stream holding its course through simple inertia. OTOH, we’re talking about potentially tens or hundreds of cubic miles of arctic air siphoned off- enough to cool a whole region.

He’s not dense; he’s trolling. He’s been playing this masturbatory game since post #1. “Oh, look, it’s really cold somewhere on the surface of the earth, therefore ‘global warming’ is a liberal hoax put together by luddite technocrats in order to conquer the world, haw haw haw.”

The only reason any of us post in response is in hopes of protecting innocents who may be lurking and reading this, and are somehow taken in by his garbage. We’re safety trestles with blinking warning lights, stationed to surround a sinkhole that’s filled with sewage. Watch Out, please, and don’t get your shoes dirty.

I meant tens or hundreds of thousands of cubic miles.

I’m pretty sure those two traits are mutually exclusive.

I also agree that since he is quite deliberate in his cherry picking, even when called on it repeatedly, FX is nothing more than a garden variety troll.

Hope you can find a doctor to get that nice juicy hook removed from your gut.

I’m a little surprised that Fuxie has only gotten up to 1,620 posts in this thread. Perhaps he’s tiring? Mylabe the heat is getting to him.

Even though his efforts on the actual subject matter have been a total fail, he has accomplished two things here:

  1. He has given the NIMBY argument a whole new application. “Is global climate change happening? Not in my backyard it isn’t!”

  2. He has made it so that whenever he tries to participate in other threads, everyone’s first thought is “Hey, it’s that nutty climate change crank! Where’s his little sidekick?”

Oh my, the Elves have taken over Santa’s workshop! Oh noes!. Pity, but fortunately, (like we see with the discovery of ozone and that it is in the atmosphere, protecting us from death from above,) what is real, the actual world, doesn’t depend on somebody just saying something.

If it were small regions, it wouldn’t even be on the table, much less a bone of contention. But that’s your reasoning, so what can one do? Cohen and others have carefully noted, and provided evidence for the large scale trends, and I posted the links so anyone can check for themselves. -.9C cooling trend for the entire Northern Hemisphere. But the denier can’t see a twenty year trend for the entire northern hemisphere, they call it regional cooling! Priceless. North America, -1.51C, and Asia, a twenty year trend of -5.71C. Far from regional, but a fuckhead will never grasp this.

I’m going to stick with real science on this, OK?

That’s just a complete lie of course, since I avoid politics, and never have claimed any such nonsense. And if I did, it would be simply quoted, rather than you making shit up, which is your game, not mine. You idiot.

Another lie, easily exposed, because you never post evidence, use logic or try to counter anything with facts, much less sources. making you both ineffective in your stated goal, as well as a liar. Stupid troll. Your an idiot.

No doubt, I noticed several typos in recent post. I’m losing it. I don’t have the strength to even fix them.

Now that’s fucking ironic, since my backyard is one place that the data shows long term climate change has happened, and is happening right now. You, like most of the idiots sniping here, are too stupid to grasp anything but your own idiot ideas. You mistake personal attacks with science, and you own idiot thoughts with wisdom.

Which is a lie of course. I usually ignore such idiocy, because once you start responding to trolls, cranks or idiots, they think it somehow means you like them, and they start following you around, shitting everywhere, and pointing at their own stink and smiling.

Disgusting, it really is. Why don’t you go outside and play? Let the adults talk.

Jeez, it feels disgusting to have even responded to that pile of lies and idiocy.

So, global climate change is happening in Fuxie’s backyard, but not globally.

Truly a master of science.

Global climate change has been happening for a very long time. It’s not climate change that bothers us, it’s drastic unnatural climate change, that we suspect is due to pollution, land use changes and increasing the greenhouse effect. And if it’s all warming, then it’'s global warming that is the fear.

You moron.

Could someone less insane than FX explain to me why FX says that his link shows a -0.9C cooling trend, but when I go to the link it shows a positive temperature anomoly for each year from 1990 to 2015 (with the single exception of 1994), and a +1.36C/century overall trend?

Am I misreading the table FX linked to or is he just lying about what it says?

I keep telling you, you have to lift a finger and set the trend yourself.

Select display trend. Choose 1996-2015 in the menu, Set it to century to see the number I quoted. Quoted, I don’t make up numbers.

OK, I did that. I get +0.78C/Century trend for the period 1996 to 2015. Looks to me like you’re lying about what it says.

For example. If you want to see the decade trend for North America, this link takes you to the July data, but with no trend. You have to set it, because the NCDC app does not allow trends to be embedded in the links. If you try, it will always show the complete record trend, usually from 1880, but not always. Here’s a link to the July data with a trend. It would say +1.29C for the trend, but in fact it will show the entire trend, meaning you will see +0.74C, which is the trend from 1880.

Some areas start in 1930, but the point is you have to set the trend yourself, a link will always go to the entire record trend.

It’s one reason I avoid the NCDC data, because you can’t link to trends.
If you want to see the decade trend for North America, this link takes you to the July data, but with no trend. If you set the trend data, you should see this.

Since I linked to the source, the last thing I would do is lie, or try to decieve anyone about what it shows.

I can’t get a +0.78C/Century trend for any area, land or sea for that period. Can you post a screenshot?

I did double check, and the Northern hemisphere land trend for 1996-2015 for J-F is

  • 0.53C a century, so my original post is wrong. the 1995-2015 trend is - 1.23C

But all of this can be checked of course. It’s science

[ETA Try2’s clarification]

I do see your point here, however I think your assumption that the polar jet stream will remain in position is flawed. Where the jet stream sets up depends on where the polar front is. If the polar front expands toward the equator, then the jet stream will also move toward the equator. Another problem is with the 2[sup]nd[/sup] Law of Thermodynamics. Air on the temperate side of the polar front is warmer, thus contains more energy than the air on the polar side. Any transfer on energy must move from the temperate side to the polar side. This includes the cubic miles of convective transfer, warm air moving across the front to the cold side.

I’m really fuzzy here on many of the details, but I’ll try my troll-hood best:

1] Watchwolf
2] Black if available, otherwise Green
3] For the Northern Hemisphere, air in the temperate zone generally moves south to north at the surface, air in the polar zone moves north to south. Where these two air flows meet, they have no choice but to move upwards. Something about these air masses having greatly differing densities causes a weather front to develop between the two air masses, thus very little mingling. Once they reach the tropopause, they split apart again with the temperate air heading south and the polar air heading north. The jet stream sets up near the tropopause on the temperate side of the polar front. Thusly moving the polar front will indeed move the jet stream. Remember that the Arctic Polar Front looks very chaotic, whereas the Antarctic Polar Front is very regular. One is mostly over land, the other mostly over water, and the Antarctic Front more clearly shows these processes. Noteworthy here is the northern polar front on Saturn. This has been observed to form a regular hexagon, which AFAIK remains inexplicable. So it’s fair to say some of the details here are fuzzy to everyone … just saying …

I guess all that’s left is making some Pit-worthy statement about your personal hygiene, but I’m drawing a blank. So I’ll stick with a more general Pit-worthy comment: I’m told humans taste worster than they smell, which I quite frankly find extremely hard to believe. You peoples are total hypocrites saying skunks stink.

If I had spent the time crafting 1,622 posts on a subject, and had totally failed to even remotely craft a compelling coherent argument, I might be reduced to sputtering gibberish as well.

Of course, I would not do that in the first place. I’m not a loony science denying crank.

Here’s the J_F NH land trend (just grabbed an image capture)

Here’s another one, of Asia

Here’s a global trend (21 years)

It’s obvious why the “warmer than ever recorded” story is greeted with skepticism. Reality doesn’t care what you say, it doesn’t change anything to just say something is so.

What the fuck? Your picture shows the trend from 2006-2015? Why the fuck would you look at the trend from a local max to a local min? Look at the trend from 1992 to 2015 and it’s +4C/century. Every single year from 2006-2015 (with the exception of 2009) has a positive temperature anomaly according to your own data, but you manage to pick a trend line from a year with a high positive temperate anomaly to a year with a low positive temperature anomaly and claim that’s a cooling trend???

You are a lying sack of shit. I vote ban.

Banned name!

Here’s your screenshot, you lying sack of shit: FX is a liar. Notice how every fucking year had a positive temperature anomaly, and the trend line is positive? Ban this fucking liar.
