I'm sick of this Global Warming!

Sure. But what’s funny is in all of these discussions, the warmist side frequently trots out the “You’re not a climatologist so STFU” argument. And that someone is usually NOT a climatologist.

Oh yeah, and the more the nutjob tries to convince everyone they are the only true voice of climate on the internet, the more that idiot tactic makes them look like a fucking tool.

Whoa…really?

You sure are a cut up Brazzers. For a minute, you almost had me convinced you actually believe people should value FX’s and your contrary opinions on Climate Change over the pros who do it for a living. But that would be stupid.

Oh. Forgot. We are talking about you…

Actually, I’m thinking tool usage is a little beyond your current abilities FX’d. A trainer to help you with complicated tasks like getting your clothes on, wiping your face and extremities would probably be more utilitarian.

But there’s nothing wrong with your having private ass-pirations.

Actually, my argument has always been a little more nuanced than that cupcake. Put up or STFU.

Commit your dumbfuck crap to black and white and submit it to one of the professional publications for review. Go ahead. Do it.

Make your fantasy of being laughed at by actual climatologist a reality.

There is no way Gigogalloper will ever do that. He will just continue to spew forth here, and never ever put up anything, except what blogs tell him to say.

Shucks, you could say the same thing about the SS blog. Tell them to publish and quit polluting the internet with their half baked opinions.

Based on his last reply it is clear that all what FX said has no value, I’m on the record to deferring to what the scientists and published researchers say so the “dare” to publish is still pertinent to the ones that claim to have such “intellect” that allows them to claim that most of the climate researchers to be wrong regarding the feedbacks.

Of course since the publishers of Skeptical Science already published their consensus research in a respected journal, FX just appears once again as an ignorant ass, but that is not a surprise.

But really sylmar, I do appreciate your support and also the ones coming from many others in PM and in the thread, (thank you guys) but we should not feed the trolls anymore, there were tossed in the pit for a reason by the moderators.

I don’t understand why global warming is such a big deal.

So what if temps raise a few degrees all over the earth.

Can you really tell the difference between 3 degrees of temperature?

People that live in the desert with 120 degrees are acclimated enough to withstand 123 degrees. Even something as simple as standing in the shade vs standing in direct sunlight can create a temperature difference of over 15 degrees.

And won’t people that live in the arctic countries like Norway, Sweden, and Iceland prefer warmer winter temps of -42 degrees instead of -45 degrees?

And if the oceans rise then we can just build cities higher up in the mountains.

For example, the Reno–Tahoe International Airport in Nevada is at an elevation of 4,415 feet, while the Honolulu International Airport in Hawaii is at an elevation of 13 feet. So Honolulu disappears due to global warming, but Reno gets a population boom. It sounds like a fair trade.

On the off-chance that this post is intended seriously and not a sarcastic whoosh:

The predicted climate impacts from a three-degree increase in global average temperatures (and note that the three-degree estimate usually refers to the Celsius, not Fahrenheit, temperature scale) are not limited to or even primarily about how human beings physically experience a few degrees of temperature shift in their local environment.

Where the big impacts will be felt is in weather pattern changes, increased severity of extreme weather events, effects of sea level rise on coastal areas, rapid shifts in local ecologies and water availability, and so on.

Yeah, 'cuz that sort of adaptation isn’t expensive or disruptive at all. Nobody will even notice! Honestly, how can those global warming alarmists be so silly-Chicken-Little about such minor adjustments?

Don’t forget you’d also be trading in JFK International Airport in New York, also at an elevation of 13 feet. So what, right? We’ll just put more people in the Poconos or somewhere, yeah?

For heaven’s sake. Are you even listening to yourself? Don’t you see how stupid it sounds to talk about the environmental displacement and relocation of millions of people as an unimportant non-event or neutral “fair trade”?

Yes, I bet you do and that was a whoosh. Well done.

Well just look at the massive increase in deaths over the last 60 years due to flooding, hurricanes, and so on. Global warming will only make this trend worse.

I didn’t know playing ,“Whack a Troll” could be so much fun, but I’ll respect your wishes GIGO.

Assuming you are serious, this is one of those things that you would think was clearly explained so many times, you just post a link to one of the many articles, or previous post about it.

In fact, I think the straightdope boards must have an entire topic dedicated to it. Certainly Cecil has an article explaining this. Fighting ignorance and all that. It’s the most important issue facing mankind right now, so how can there not be such a topic?

It’s actually one of those things that anyone new will ask about global warming. And there are lots of new people each day in our world.

Usually the “effects” are listed as impacts on people and animals.

Or as economic costs.

Of course anyone who actually is interested can use Google and find endless articles about climate change/global warming, so trying to explain it is pissing into the wind.

Most people have stopped fretting over it.

I quoted some really disastrous predictions from Lovelock, which even Gigiogalloper dismissed, admitting James Lovelock has changed his mind and no longer believes in the doomsday scenario that dominated a decade ago. he recognizes what most intelligent skeptics have realized, and says clearly what the problem is.

So calm down, and realize the nutcases that preach and end of life as we know it have always been wrong.

One of your problems is that you don’t seem to recognize any middle ground between “the end of life as we know it” and “really nothing to worry about”.

Don’t try to tell me what problems I have, what I think, or pretty much anything else, as you don’t know shit about me.

I consider a lot of other things far more pressing and dangerous than a hypothetical end of the world scenario due to long term climate change completly caused by CO2.

Like the coral reef problem. That is now, and has jackshit to do with CO2 levels. And it’s a problem that is actually solvable, unlike getting everyone in the world to stop burning as much fuel. If mankind can’t protect the coral reefs, then we sure as hell aren’t going to solve the CO2 fuckery.

The levels of ocean acidity have increased as global carbon dioxide has increased.
This increased acidity is one of the primary causes for coral reef destruction.
CO[SUB]2[/SUB] when dissolved in seawater reduces the availability of carbonate ions which are used by corals (along with other animals such as plankton and shellfish) as building blocks for their shells. Therefore, climate change has a direct and deleterious effect upon coral reefs.

Ignorant fucks think complaining about record cold and blaming it on global warming is some sort of ironic satire, not realizing that this comes from climate experts, scientists who actually have attributed the cold winters in the NH to global warming, through multiple mechanisms.

The ignorant fucks can’t be blamed, as they don’t actually educate themselves before spewing forth their bile online. That Gigogalloper and friends don’t recognize that the cooling trend for NH winters, the increasing snow, and the damage from both are actually blamed on global warming, that is fucking priceless.

Because the arrogant pricks are trying to come across as some sort of know-it-alls who “only go by science”, while they preach their screwed world view like baptist preachers, just look more foolish with each half assed attempt to take the high moral ground.

Absolute bullshit. Willful ignorance? Or just the consequences of not looking at science, but spewing forth bullshit from blogs?

Who knows? Who even cares?

Right now, the cause of coral bleaching is pollution, and over fishing. Changes in the oceans Ph are not even on the table yet.

Actually, you have given us quite a bit of information about you in this thread alone.

You are quite right that doomsday scenarios about a hypothesized end of the world are not realistically a significant cause of concern.

Like I said, though, you don’t seem able to comprehend that there’s a middle ground between “end of the world” and “nothing to worry about”.

Wrong. Some of the most important factors in the threat to coral reefs, such as ocean acidification and coral bleaching, are directly linked to atmospheric CO2 levels.

Bullshit weasel words.

“Coral Reefs May Start Dissolving When Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Doubles”

Reefs are not going to survive that long if current damage isn’t stopped, and actual experiments with corals shows they adapt to changes in ocean conditions.

But the dommsayers ignore this, and claim the “change is too fast”, and that “climate change has never happened this fast before”, which is more bullshit.

Of course they didn’t actually take corals and experiment with them, because that won’t “prove” how dangerous the CO2 levels “might” be in the future. No, you use a computer to “prove” shit.

It’s a goddamn religion.
