If God didn’t want carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, He wouldn’t have put it there, now would He?
It’s certainly not my responsibility to educate you.
You’re on your own there.
I think that would be the human-caused aspect.
[and yes, I know that isn’t in their definition. For that you’d actually have to read the main content.]
I prefer science over faith.
If you’re going to insert God into the argument, I’ll have to bow out of the discussion with you and leave that argument to a theologian.
Depends about what – if you use a special term, it’s your responsibility to explain what you mean by that term.
In this case, you asserted that “Climate Change” is real.
Once you explained what you meant by “Climate Change,” it turns out you were making an assertion which pretty much nobody denies.
In other words, you were attacking a nice juicy strawman. I hope it made you feel good.
So you believe Climate Change is real and human-induced?
Of course.
It depends what “Climate Change” you are referring to. For example, I do not believe that the Little Ice Age was human-induced. I do believe that human activities have contributed to the increase in global surface temperatures during the 20th Century.
I agree … what I don’t believe is that this contribution from man is bad in every respect. I see good things coming from rising temperatures as well. Just dumping carbon dioxide and natural gas into the atmosphere isn’t going to destroy life of Earth, it’s not going to cause the sun to flare out, it’s not going to cause economic ruin. How many places on Earth would benefit from increased rainfall? I see rising temperatures as a boon to mankind, the dawn of a golden age of prosperity etc etc etc.
At least … it better be.

Which as I understand it is exactly what you’d expect. The atmosphere warms, more moisture goes into the air which destabilizes the jet stream and causes it to suck cold air down from the arctic.
Very simplistic, I know, but there it is. Yes it seems ironic, but the current bout of cold temperatures is caused by global warming.
Oh for the love of all that is good and true, please don’t …
I did.
Read it and weep.
Siberia experiences freak warm weather in December for first time in living memory
Yes, I’m sure I can trust a source that tag the article as “Liberal Fascism.”
I have weather.com giving the record low in Atlanta as -9ºF in 1899.
That isn’t the source, the source is TIME. You are making a classic error, not looking at the source, but the page that reports it, and dismissing the data.
TIME magazine actually ran a story blaming global cooling for the polar vortex shift and record cold. In the seventies. Then ran the same story, but blaming global warming for the same event. It’s classic pseudoscience, where nothing can disprove global warming. It’s sickening.
I look at Russia and Siberia everyday, so I know that story is bullshit. http://www.weatherforecastmap.com/russia/
And yep, after looking at the story (nice almost nude babes btw) it’s a con. Almost a complete fabrication. If you believed that story, you got conned.
You want me to prove it?
The confusion is between the all time record ever for any date, and the record for Jan 6 or whatever date they are talking about.
If the all time ever record cold was broken, that would be a much bigger story.
Don’t even try.
The “record cold” was for Jan 7, but the record for Jan 6 is -1 °F (1884), and for the 8th it is 6 °F (1970), so when they say “broke a record” they mean for that day.
Same for the warm days. If an all time record is broken, it’s pretty big news. It happens very rarely.
No, Time ran a story saying that some scientists believed it, But, since Time Magazine is the go to source, then:
No, and your efforts to redirect are futile. what happened is self evident. Two extreme cold events happened. In the seventies TIME ran a story blaming the polar vortex cold on global cooling (which was indeed occurring). Then in 2014 blamed the polar vortex on global warming (which is ironic since the trend for January is cooling, especially in the areas effected by the extreme cold)
They got caught doing exactly what a lot of other people are doing. Blaming both warming and cooling on global warming.
Which is fucking hilarious if you have a sense of humor left.
