I once tried looking up old flames.
Kept running into obits.
Actually found a live one and called. I innocently asked about a mutual friend from way back.
Also dead.
If I get bored, I’ll putter around the house.

I am not bored. Boredom–and in particular, \*admitting \*to boredom–is like texting the Universe to say, “Hey, come kick me in the balls!” The surest cures for boredom are swift, unpleasant, and abundant.

I just saw an obit where my ex wife was listed as his girlfriend. I really wasn’t expecting to ever see her name again, it was strange, especially since he had 25+ years on her. I thought for a second on sending her a note or something but I haven’t seen her in more then a decade and decided against it.
