To quote Kurt Angle, “it’s true, it’s true.” Today my sister called me to tell me she’s pregnant. She has one son, Christopher, who is now eleven years old. She had a second son, Craig, who died two years ago of cancer. He would have been seven. She had problems with both of her previous pregnancies and had decided after her second child not to try again. Last year she decided to try again under the care of a doctor specializing in high risk pregnancies. She is due April 20, 2002. Which would have been Craig’s eighth birthday, had he lived. I feel like I’m witnessing a miracle. I’m getting teary eyed again, but I’m so incredibly happy right now. Now I just have to be a good sister/aunt and think of a girl’s name-we’re all positive it’s a girl-beginning with the letter C. ---

Well, we already have a Catherine, a Cathleen, and a Charlotte in the family, so those are out. It was funny though, when we were talking about names. She said “BTW, I won’t take the name Cobain because I know you’re planning to use it.” She knows me and my quirks so well. 🙂 ---

congratulations, auntie!! “thank heaven for little girls” they are more fun than anything. i’ve always liked the name “colinda”. my dad used to sing a song “colinda”, but it was in french, so i don’t really know what it was. i know you will make a terrific aunt. enjoy her. and tell your sister we will keep her in our prayers. ---

I’m inordinately fond of “Callista.” But, of course, I’m well prepared for my future probable daughter, Cornelia, to be the only girl by that name in town.
