because Fred Phelps has bashed him. No, I don’t have a link. I was visiting my grandfather this weekend. We were having our usual 8 hour long chat and we got to talking about civil rights (a common subject with my grandfather). Somehow, Phelps came up and my grandfather showed me a “bulletin” which Phelps had faxed to my grandfather’s editor. Phelps was REALLY rude. If it wasn’t for this board, I wouldn’t even know who Phelps is, so the level of hate in the fax shocked me. I’ve always been very proud of my grandfather. I’m in awe of him actually. Everyone should have a grandfather like him. I don’t like people trashing him but I have come to accept it. People like him always have enemies. However, in this case it doesn’t really bother me - because it proves my grandfather is really making a difference. I know you guys probably don’t care about this but I’m just so proud that I had to share. ---

If you don’t tell us, we’ll have to wade into the cesspool of intolerance and bigotry that is Phelp’s website and try to discern it for ourselves. ---

Well, his first major problem is that he supports an openly gay member of his local government. I think that was the root of the issue. However, there are literally hundreds of things about my grandfather which probably piss off Phelps. I think the coolest thing is that Phelps knows enough about him to hate him. I imagine that Phelps hates anyone who actively works to make life better for everyone. ---

Well, I just braved that disgusting site. I didn’t see anything about it. He must have been content to send it to the newspaper. Maybe he thought they’d print it. Please excuse me while I wash my computer in industrial bleach.
