It wasn’t always that way (MPSIMS being the forum with the most posts). I remember when there was an “office pool” to guess the date on which MPSIMS would overtake General Questions once it became obvious that it would.
My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think the creation of IMHO might have bled off a lot of posts that previously would have been put in GQ.
