It’s the Pit, dude. You can say ‘fuck’.
Fine. Please point out those WRT the anthropogenic-climate-change theory, being specific, and preferably without simply parroting or citing Richard Lindzen.
A counterargument might be: God made the world for humanity in Adam and Eve’s pre-Fall state of holy innocence. Since they brought Original Sin into the world, all bets are off, all pre-Fall divine guarantees are null and void, and we make our own troubles.
To elaborate, if you are claiming to be rejecting anthropogenic global warming because you think it has these problems, then you are claiming to be better at detecting them than several thousand Ph.D. climate scientists, the editorial boards of Science, Nature, and dozens of other peer-reviewed scientific journals, the National Academy of Sciences, and many other scientific organizations.
If that’s what you actually are claiming, then besides being a cretin, I think you are crazier than a shithouse rat.
Maybe he can’t spell it.
Are you sure you aren’t simply detecting problems with the reporting of scientific claims, rather than the claims themselves? Scientific results are often inaccurately represented in the popular press, simply because the people writing the articles don’t fully understand the science or try to simplify it to make them more accessible.
If you think that the empirical support for global warming is equivalent to all the other “decades worth of predictions of imminent doom,” you have no ability to evaluate the merits of a given claim.
I’d tell you to go fuck yourself, but you already are fucked.
Try this instead: Go educate yourself.
Don’t ask the impossible, Hentor.
Some months back, the Tennessean newspaper printed a piece showing that the majority of Nashville public schools have a graduation rate around 60%. Reap what you sow, baby. Reap what you sow.
On unusually warm days, I’ve heard people claim it was due to global warming.
AGW is just one of many schemes peddled by the environmental scare mongers.
The fact that you have some whackjobs agreeing with an assertion, doesn’t automatically mean that the assertion is wacky.
So, yes, a lot of the people who are most vocal about Global Warming are a penny short of a dollar – which, like in many other similar cases, is a shame because they detract from a very real cause (think PETA and **real **cruelty to animals) – but this does not mean GW is not a real issue (just as the fact that a group like PETA, which I personally abhor, is up in arms about Cruelty to Animals doesn’t mean that I don’t realize that there is some very real cruelty to animals going on out there)
I’ve heard people claim that decorticate chimps can type messages on internet message boards decrying the evidence for global warming.
What a shitty thread. Leftist circle-jerk, indeed. How far this place has sunk.
It is in the pit you moron, try going to any of the GD threads for good information on Global Warming. Of course do this at your own peril, you might learn something. That would be terrible.
I have had to pull back the last few days from posting in GD as this issue and its obstinate deniers have offered up so many lame excuses. I am pissing mad by the ignorance shown by many posters on this issue.
Read the reports, read the consistent updates in Scientific America over the last 5 years. Keep abreast of the issue and then come back with some factual objections to the most recent report. Do not just dismiss this as a liberal issue.
Upstream some moron appeared to be saying,” It is too late to fix this, so let’s keeping fiddling while the Earth burns." This attitude does make sense on any issue. More importantly, we have time right now to start reducing the amounts before the problem gets far worse. We have so many methods to use to solve this problem. However, we must begin and we must use many different methods.
Again, check the many GD threads for details. It is not a problem we cannot get past, it is not a problem that is faked up by liberals, it is not some vast conspiracy against the US.
Jim
Maybe if we could SEE global warming, the way we can see smog and filthy water, it wouldn’t be so hard to convince the truly stupid. On the other hand, there are visible signs of it – terrifying sighs, like the reduction of polar ice cap, the disapparance of polar bear habitat (which is basically ice). Even some of the recent increases in precipitation are caused by global warming. And we don’t even know how it affects things like the jet stream, which is causing the incredible cold that’s gripping the eastern U.S.
As for A.J. McCall and his ilk, there will always be people who believe that if they just deny the existence of something, then it won’t really exist. It’s pathetically child-like, really.
Thanks for dropping in to “raise the tone!” Just take a seat anywhere. Guys, is this a clockwise jerk, or counter- ?
Analog clock, or digital? And isn’t there a “once per thread” limit on the “circle-jerk” slur?
I’m so glad to see you here. I was thinking of inviting you here from that Great Debates thread in order to address you as you deserve, but decided it would scarcely be worth the effort, considering that you’re a troll that won’t be around much longer.
You really do give a quite remarkable example of the extreme stupidity and ignorance associated with the Global Warming Deniers. As such, I would like to thank you for participating in that thread; through your obvious idiocy you’ve done more damage to your own point of view than almost anybody else there.
It really was quite hilarious when you asked for a link to the IPCC report on the third page of the thread, despite the fact that it was the subject of the thread and linked to in the OP (as well as elsewhere on the first page). You were obviously unaware that there have been three previous IPCC reports, and completely unfamiliar with the fact that there is a massive literature documenting global warming, and near-unanimity among climate scientists on the subject. All of your information seems to have been gleaned from right-wing websites. You seem to be completely incapable of independent thought, or of learning anything about the subject.
So fuck off. cretin. With a few notable exceptions (some of whom have posted in this thread) most people on this board do believe that science, rather than knee-jerk politics, is the best way to arrive at an understanding about what is happening in the world.
And I’ve heard that crop circles are created by space aliens. This prooves nothing more than we’ve all heard stupid shit before.
Would you mind answering a quick question, stutteringjane?
Are you religious?
