Playing it through again to do all the character quests, I left Tatooine until later: now my Dexterity is too high to don the Sand People robes and infiltrate their enclave, even with AK74 in my party: even the Genohardan Stealth belt won’t help me get in - is there a way around this, is it a bug in the game, or am I doomed forever? I need help!

Wait- your Dex is _too high_?

Keep in mind that the “max Dex” for a suit of armor just indicates the maximum bonus you can get from Dex while wearing that armor. So if you have a Dex of 18 (+4), and wear a suit that has 3 as max, your Dex is effectively only a 16 (+3).

You should still be able to wear the Sand People’s Robes and therefore enter the compound. If you can’t even equip the robes, then that’s a bug that I don’t know how to get around.

Yeah, I’m not understanding your question either. AFAIK, the only time you can’t wear any type of armor is if the armor is of a type you aren’t checked out on yet (like heavy armor) or if you happen to be a Wookie or droid. Do the Sand People robes show up highlighted in red when you are in the equip screen? If not, you should be able to wear them.

I guess if you made a typo and meant to say that your dex is too low, I’m still confused. I don’t remember Dex being a factor in that scenario. I thought you just put on the robes and walk right in? I’m probably wrong though.

What I remember most about that scenario is that it’s real easy to screw up your dialog with the head of the Sand People if you are trying to go light side. One wrong move and before you know it you’re re-playing Anakin’s slaughter.

I’ve never heard of a bug that would prevent you from wearing the sand-people robes. Not at all.

I encountered a bug where you don’t get _any_ robes (much less enough for you and your other non-droid team member, assuming you’re not dragging T3 into the desert), so you end up having to do the ‘_kill 'em **all** _’ method for for the Sand People quest.

Which is the method HK-47 approves of, of course. 😉

But I agree with **John Corrado** in that you’re probably misreading the armor stats. ‘Max Dex’ refers to the ‘maximum dexterity bounus’ you can have while wearing that armor, not that if your dexterity is higher than that you can’t wear it.

I think it must be a bug, or a major oversight: the specs for the robes say you must have a maximum dexterity bonus of no more than 8, but since my dexterity is right up there, I just can’t equip them. At all.

Which means I can’t get into the Sand People enclave: there aren’t even any guards or turrrets anymore - every time I walk or sneak up to the gates I just get the “your entire party has been killed” message without even a firefight. So unless I can get into the Eastern Dune Sea without a map, I’m stuffed.

It means that 8 will be the maximum dexterity bonus you wll receive while wearing this armor. so even if you had dex 30, which would give you a +10 dexterity bonus to your defence or to hit rolls in shooting if you were wearing nothing, wearing the robes means that the max dexterity bonus applied in those situations will be 8.

Now that was just plain weird: I can equip the robes, but only after stripping down to my undies, exiting the equip screen, then re-entering it and equipping the robes. Definitely some kind of bug, then, as in previous games playing Tatooine at a lower level of experience, I’ve had no problem with the robes. Those robed vermin mock me! They shall pay! Oh, how they shall pay!

I do not like the sand people.

I went through all the trouble of helping them, but they got all mad when _all I did_ was start to rob them of their meager personal possessions. Man, what a bunch of babies. Of course, at this point, I really had no choice but to defend myself from them.

To be fair, even if you’re playing Light Side you get to wander the game and pilfer at will: how would you like it if some guy strolled blithely into your house and started rummaging through your belongings? I’m just going to exterminate them because it’s the _bad_ thing to do - last time I helped them it cost me 200 good credits, I had to listen to the ramblings of their storyteller, _and_ I didn’t even get any decent items.

This time I shall feed the desert with their blood and glut the ravenous maw of death! The anguished keenings of their women shall be as sweet music to me! My wrath shall fuel my hatred and I shall exult as the Force is shackled to my will and my foes fall before me like wheat under the scythe! I shall be all powerful! I shall ransack their wicker baskets! I shall know what it is to be a GOD!

{I figure a good Sith needs to practice his monologues}

I know exactly what you mean by that. Kill 'em all, I say.

I don’t know how many times my husband asked me what I was doing, and I said, “Killing Sith, dear!” Loads of fun!

The most enjoyable fight I’ve had in that game is Korriban after betraying and killing Ban and Uthar in the tombs: they had both poisoned each other thanks to my machinations, of course, and were easy prey. Strolling back through a hostile Sith Academy twirling a pair of purple lightsabres, striking down anyone who crossed my path with Death Field and Kill, and whistling “School’s Out Forever”. Ah, the power! The joy! The Dark Side is so much more _fun_.

My favorite dark side moment is after the fight atop the temple on the Star Forge planet:

After you defeat Bastila and convince her you have returned as Revan, Dark Lord of the Sith, you slay Jolee and Juhani, then make your way down to the beach where Carth runs off, Canderous and the droids agree to support your cause (HK-47 rather enthusiastically), and Zaalbar is obligated to serve you under his life debt. That leaves Mission, who simply can’t turn to the dark side. Sure, you could kill her yourself, but it’s _soooo_ much colder to make Big Z betray her – you can almost feel her anguish as the Wookiee discharges his bowcaster into her chest.

</div>

And marooning the little stowaway on Korriban: of course, she’ll probably grow into an all-powerful Sith Mistress and come seeking revenge, but such is the way of these things. When I get sick of Bastila _she_ can kill her and take her place as my apprentice. It pays to plan these things ahead.

I just wanted to point out that you get no dark side hit for slaughtering the Sand People; none at all. Even your goody-two-shoes companions like Misson and Carth don’t complain.

So, you can either get a boring story from the Sandpeople storyteller, or you can get the XP for an entire village. Which would you pick? 😃

> So, you can either get a boring story from the Sandpeople storyteller, or you can get the XP for an entire village. Which would you pick? 😃

Actually, both. 😃 The Storyteller has a special item (Raito’s Gaderffii, 6-13 damage, +5 attack) that can be sold or equipped by a melee weapons user. He doesn’t show up until you retrieve the Krayt dragon pearl and give it to the chieftain.

I play along nicely until after I listen to the storyteller. Then, I exit the compound, switch two Jedis into my party, then return to the camp and steal from a wicker basket. The Sand People turn on me, and I slaughter everyone with Force Wave / Force Lightning / Stasis and a whole lot of lightsaber flurrying. Grab the pearl and vaporators from the chieftain, the Gaderiffi from the storyteller, and about 30 regular gaffi sticks from everyone else. That’s good for around 1500 credits in the Czerka office.

You can do that if you’re playing Light Side, too (well, apart from the Death Field and Kill bit, but I prefer to give those Sith students the personal service with the lightsabres anyway). And I have. Didn’t rack up any DS points for helping the two professors poison each other, or for telling them I’d take them both on inside the tomb.

**KeithT** , your ideas on the Sandpeople village interest me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Sadly, there is also no option for killing the Jawa prisoners that I could find: the most you can do is take it out on Griff and then push Iziz around a bit. And I _really_ wanted a fight with that sanctimonious whiner Carth, but the big War Hero just runs off like a girl. Loser.
