Sun screen for all us fair people to share. I’d bring watermelon. I’ve been in the mood for it lately. You need it for a picnic. My dogs if that’s allowed, but I’d leave my grumpy one at home. ---

This is coming along nicely - I’ll grab some extra blankets we can sit on and some outdoor candles for when dusk approaches. Also this kickass chipotle potato salad I just discovered. ---

Water. Probably not enough, as I can’t carry it all. Since we’ll be there for about 8 h, we’ll need a lot, and no one else is bringing it. Still, some is better than none. Cookies. You have to try my cookie experiment, and that’s final. Probably a bottle of dry white, maybe rosé. Only if I want to share & have it on hand. More if I have time before our little shindig. ---

I would expect my host to provide for me, although I would of course bring a small gift 😉 Things I enjoy at a picnic: simple sandwiches, cured meats (summer sausage is like a time machine), and practically any fresh fruit, although I’m particularly fond of cherries, peaches and melons. ---

I’m bringing my lawn chair, an umbrella in case of blazing hot sun or rain, bug spray, Lay’s reduced-salt potato chips, a cooler full of ice and bottled water, and enough Ibuprofen for everyone. If I can figure out how to bring ice cream along, I’ll do that, too. Will there be fireworks later? ---
