I'm thinking of re-subscribing to my local Trump-backing newspaper

Agreed. Elsewhere on this site some of us have supported a man who is contemplating divorcing his Trump-loving wife. Cancelling a newspaper for the same reasons seems a lot less emotionally loaded decision.

I stop reading papers when their biases pervade the (alleged) news sections. Opinions, even obnoxious ones can be tolerated on the editorial/op-ed pages.

If and when the OP’s paper starts slanting school board and city council coverage or the obits* in Trumpian fashion, that’s when to give it up.

“Mr. Snodgrass died due to angst over his country’s relentless slide into godless socialism.”

And there is the reason I blame Trump. The man had been having issues with the paper since 2011, and many other entities as well. He always couched his threats in deniable ways. It wasn’t until he received the “Go ahead. Attaboy!” from Dear Leader that he went on his murderous rampage.
