Same here. I’d rather get a few mosquito bites than even\* read \*about bedbugs.

If only we could make slightly larger but still nearly microscopic cats to hunt all the bedbugs… I say this because my cat (even though she is declawed), is an excellent cockroach hunting machine.

But seriously, are there any natural predators to bedbugs (other small insects, arachnids, etc), that are harmless to humans but deadly to bedbugs that could help solve the extermination problem? I’m assuming if there was such a method it would have been exploited by now, but maybe people just haven’t spent much time looking into it?

I haven’t been bitten by Scott Baio, but I’ve been bitten by Scott Bakula. Fucker wanted to suck my blood.

I think centipedes hunt down bedbugs.

Well, sure, but who wants to sleep in a bed full of centipedes?

I’d hazard that centipedes are easier to exterminate than bedbugs and would be far less numerous. I had a very minor roach problem in part of my house that doesn’t have good seals between the walls and the crawlspace area. Then over about a week period, I stopped seeing them even though I still hadn’t crawled under the house and sprayed the roach poison yet. Then, a week after that, I found two dead centipedes (courtesy of my two cats) and a huge live centipede that was about as big as my hand. I still won’t go into the lower section of my house (a garage converted into a bathroom, a laundry room, and a bedroom) without shoes on.

[The Masked Hunter](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masked_hunter) is a bedbug predator. Its not a good choice for use as a natural enemy for several reasons: 1) it’ll eat other things besides bedbugs, 2) it wouldn’t eat enough bedbugs to eliminate an infestation and 3) it can give a VERY PAINFUL NASTY bite (speaking from personal experience here).

Not something you want in large numbers in your home. It’s a pest, not something desirable.

> It’s not surprising so many hadn’t heard of them. They were called bugito beddo in Japan and they were a huge hit. But then they came to America and they sold out.

In Japan they are known as _okanemushi_, or money bugs, because their bite is thought to resemble the shape of a coin. They are regarded as lucky because it is believed that one’s wealth will increase with the number of bites, and thus an infestation of _okanemushi_ is seen as something to be welcomed; it is still customary to hang the blood-specked mattresses, or _futon_, outside to proudly display the onset of wealth.

[Review](http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/MN-Minneapolis-River-Gate-Apartments.html) of an apartment building one block from where I work and immediately adjacent to a biulding with multi-million dollar condos.

Love the pic, which was posted in 2010 and STILL hasn’t been taken down.
