Peggy puzzles me too. When she slept with Pete, at first I figured it was because she didn’t realize that she had the right to reject him. Then we see that she has some ambition, so I thought she slept with him to advance at the agency. But then toward the end, she seems really interested in him. Now, I think maybe she’s exploring, testing, curious. She’s fascinating, whatever her motivations.
Very well executed show on many accounts. I was mostly shocked at how many husbands were cheating on their wives - multiple times, in Don’s case.
I loved the bit of Don having several ironed and prepared white shirts in his desk. Very useful.
I think Peggy initially was impressed by Pete’s appearance of sophistication and upperclassness, compared to her background. He also may have been her first sexual experience, but I’m not sure if they ever state that or not.
Wordman: I won’t spoil anything, but keep watching.
I think Peggy was under the impression that she had to do whatever it took to survive at the firm. It was certainly what the woman with the red hair led her to think - that boys will be boys, and if you’re smart, you’ll play along and not make a fuss. Peggy even made an advance toward Don when he first hired her, but he shut that down pretty quickly.
I think she did develop a sort of crush on Pete, but she’s extremely inexperienced.
