# Images in Firefox now surrounded by black

Sometime in the last week or so I noticed images in Firefox are now against a black background, where previously there were against a white background. In IE, they are still on a white background. Can anyone explain what happened, and how I can reinstate the white backgrounds in Firefox?

Can you post a screenshot? Does it affect all images or only certain ones?

Anytime you right click and View Image.

You can change it back with this extension: [Old Default Image Style](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/old-default-image-style/?src=search) (It also lets you set a custom background color if you prefer)

Technical note: The actual style is hidden away in //gre/res/TopLevelImageDocument.css, which is not easily accessible to regular users. The extension makes it much easier to change.

The new style also centers the image on the page. I would actually prefer that they display the image in “view image” with a one pixel border, whatever the background color, and however they align it, so you can tell where the actual edges of transparent gifs and pngs are. If I can make it do that, it might be worth tweaking with.

I don’t know if the addon supports that, but you can do this with a modified userContent.css. I found this yesterday but I don’t have the link handy… Google around for “userContent.css view image border” or something similar and if you can’t find it, let me know and I’ll look again.
