I cant think of a reason why the Last Supper, or any version of it, would feature in the opening ceremony in Paris. Paris is in France. The opening ceremony was all about France. The Last Supper fresco is in Milan, which is not in France. Now sure, the Mona Lisa appeared in the opening, and is by the same Italian artist, except the Mona Lisa is quite famously _in Paris_ (which is in France). France is a different country from Italy. ---

However, other than them sitting behind the table in a row, and the center figure wearing a crown, it didn’t look like the last supper. Unles Jesus was blue, and wearing nothing but a flower garland and a smile. Or a large woman guzzling wine … I think that’s what she was doing. Some people need to know that not everything is about them and their delicate sensabilities. ---

Why is it always the ugly Americans? If we’re so terrible, stupid, prudish, and easily outraged why are people breaking their necks, saving their money, sometimes putting their very lives on the line to get here and stay for the great American dream. This country is stuffed full of every type of person. Someone’s outrage is someone else’s joke. And that’s just fine. It’s ok to have a different opinion from your neighbor. It’s America. You have that right. Getting outraged by someones outrage just ridiculous. ---

I dont think it always is, however, the USA is a huge land where, although there is no doubt regional variety, for a lot of people, they would have to travel a long way before they encounter a hugely different culture to their own. If I travel south from where i live, I’m abruptly in a different country (France) which has a lot of differences to my local culture here at home. Its like that for a lot of Europeans, and even those that live in the middle of fairly large countries like France or Spain are inherently more aware that things aren’t the same everywhere, because our whole countries are on the same order of size as US states. That said, we have some fiercely ignorant people here too. They’re everywhere. ---
