> FWIW, that sounds like any typical Friday night in downtown San Jose. 😃

You’re more or less correct, just on a MUCH larger scale. 😉

> Massive? I don’t know. But for example in San Jose, all that was reported was “a few arrests”. I saw personally quite a bit of low level violence (throwing plastic bottles, mostly harmless I’ll concede) and one female freind of mine was completely terrorised when some “youths” amoung the protestors started rocking cars that were stopped, and I \*do \* consider that “violence” (they hadn’t got to her’s yet when she called me, scared out of her wits, and the police- after fighting their way through the _resisting_ crowds- stopped it before she got hit.) Protestors were noisy, littered like crazy, and violated traffic laws with distain- jaywalking right in front of traffic for example. Some windows & windshields were broken, there was a lot of broken bottle-glass; I don’t know if it was litter or thrown bottles. It could have been FAR worse, and it seemed like the organizers were trying to stop actual serious violence, I’ll admit. OTOH, it seems like the mostly sypathethic local press downplayed what violence did occur.

Oh dear god save me the Mexican littered. I ask you, when you go to your rock concerts or whatever it is that you do, do you leave the place pristine?

This has been widely reported as one of the most peaceful large scale protest ever. To say otherwise is “making shit up”.

If the point of this is for immigrants to remind us how **many** of them there are . . . that alone could easily backfire . . .

So- you always beleive the Media? :dubious:

To say otherwise is “_telling the truth_”. Something we find rather important around here. I said exactly what I personally saw and witnessed (and had directly reported to me as it happened). No shit was made it. I told it exactly as it was.

Lets finish that thought. They peacefully demonstrated in an attempt to shut down major cities and cause financial loss to the community.

How would you feel if they decided to peacefully block your employer and thus caused you the loss of a day’s wages?

I find this aspect of the demonstration unacceptable. As much as I approve of legal Mexican immigration I will not be attacked economically without responding in-kind. For the month of May I am boycotting items and establishments that I think will make a financial statement.

I cna dig that. I think that for the month of May I’ll boycott any product made in Mexico or by a Mexico-based company.
