Don’t listen to the bourbon, it does **not** go good with chili. Failure to remember this will result in a crash course at the Linda Blair School of Interior Design. The Café Tattoo on Blair Rd (or is it Hartford Rd) in Balt. makes chili with bourbon in it. It is really good, I wish I had some now. ---

Hmmmm- I’ve got a good stockpile of Rebel Yell-think I might try that bourbon in chili thing. Any idea how much you use? Can you taste the bourbon, or is it just another layer of flavor, like when you add cocoa powder? Feel better, **Tuckerfan** , the bourbon will call you back. And \*\* CzechMaster401k\*\*, don’t judge all bourbon as harsh. Rebel Yell is smooth and mellow. Give it a shot. A shot, get it? I crack me up. :rolleyes: ---

Well, after making a couple of urgent phone calls to dinosaurs on the big white phone, I’m feeling a bit better. I didn’t pour the bourbon into the chili, no, that would be alcohol abuse (it was Hormel Chili, and naturally one of their ads had to playing on TV right as I got up to make my first call…). I had, oh, I don’t know, probably about 8 shots before I decided that chili would be a _good_ thing. So I had a bowl and slipped off to a drunken stupor afterwards. Have to try the Rebel Yell bourbon sometime. I’ve been drinking Buffalo Trace which is surprisingly smooth (and inexpensive as well). Oh, and **CzechMaster401k** , my birthday’s tomorrow, and I only turn 34, so I don’t think I qualify as “old” just yet. ---

Yes the chili has a definite aftertaste of bourbon, I don’t know how much to use. The Cafe Tattoo is a rather strange place, tattoo parlor in the front, restaurant in the back. I don’t think the “chef” is a real stickler for recipes; I was talking to him one day about him closing up for a couple weeks because he was going to a big chili cook-off in New Mexico. Since he had 9 or 10 kinds of chili on the menu, I asked which one he would make for the cook-off. He told me he was going to take his pistol out into the desert, and whatever he killed would be in the chili that night. ---

I know the _name_ of one of the bones in my spine! (L1 - which I think stands for ‘lumbar 1’ - the first of the bones after the ribs) You learns some strange things when you do stupid things. ---

mmmm chili and mint julips. My bad food combo ™ is strawberry daquiries (made w/ the cheap ass fake strawberry mix) and Stinky Jesus pizza, with extra white sauce. * * * A stinky Jesus is: Gyro meat (lamb of god) with tomatoes (stigmata), feta (cause it tastes good), and garlic (hence stinky) on a wafer thin crust (body of jesus). ---
