Oh, my heart is just breaking over this! I don’t post here much anymore but when I did I always liked **norinew** a lot. She was one of my favorite posters. My deepest condolences to her family. ---

Oh, I’m so sorry. **norine** was such a loving, decent, funny, smart lady. Hugs to all her family. She’ll be missed hugely by many people. ---

I can’t believe I’m reading this. I refuse to believe it. Norine PM’d me in April, asking if I wanted to start up an email/penpal friendship (since, in her words, we kept popping up in the same threads :)). So we did. She told me about her wonderful family. I told her about mine; we found a lot of similarities despite having completely different backgrounds. She never went to college but was often asked where she graduated from. She was smart and entirely self-taught. She inspired me by being such a good, sound parent - even when her parents had been anything but. I was already planning what to bring to the Dopefest she was hosting later this summer in their new home… She told me she needed surgery soon and that she was unhappy with the surgeon she saw for a consultation in WV. Through my mom, I sent her a recommendation for a general surgeon in the Pittsburgh area. Her last email to me was telling me that she was in worse pain and that mom’s good friend had stopped doing general surgery operations in January. I was about to email her another recommendation when I saw this thread. I can’t believe my good fortune, that I got to know her better these last 6 weeks. She was so strong, so _good_ despite how she was raised. She could have been bitter, rotten, stupid - but she was kind, wise, loving and self-taught. Her first email to me ended with this quote: “Everything will be OK in the end; if it’s not OK, it’s not the end”. ---

I just learned about Norine’s death from **whiterabbit**. This is so sad! She was one of the few Dopers I’ve met in person; we had a lovely afternoon at a Dopefest visiting, and she just seemed like everybody’s best friend. She is going to be terribly missed. My prayers go out to her family. ---

Shit, I’m just not good at this at all, so I usually avoid these threads. But \*\*norinew \*\*was one of the first people to contact me via PM and showed a great deal of compassion wrt what I was going through at the time. She showed me the sort of kindness that close friends do, which meant a lot since I don’t really have any. \*\*Norinew \*\*had a beautiful spirit that touched me profoundly. May she rest in peace and may her family and friends find comfort in their memories of her. I’m so sorry to hear about her passing. My heart aches. ---

This is her middle daughter, Arielle. I would like to thank you all for your support. Your kind words about my mother are both appreciated and true. My mother was a loving, inspiring, brilliant person and I’m truly honored to be related to her. I consider myself blessed because I got to spend 20 years with her, although that time was entirely too short and went by entirely too quickly. The only thing even remotely relieving about this whole ordeal is that she was in pain for quite some time, and it’s comforing to know that she no longer is. ---

Wow, this sucks. I just noticed this thread, and it’s the first one of its type that’s really had an effect on me despite having been a poster here for close to nine years. I don’t think norine and I ever even interacted, but hers was a name I noticed a lot, and always in a good way. I’m so sorry for your loss. ---
