Using Mac OSX 10.6.8. First of all, I’ve found that this issue is resolved in 10.7. Please don’t tell me upgrade as a solution to this problem.

I wish to merge my contacts lists. There is a mess of overlap but not 100% match between The Work Server list and my GMail personal list. After some futzing, I found a way to export all 2193 vCards out of the work Outlook account. I now have all of them in a folder on my desktop. ( This took some cleverness, I must admit, since using Outlook for Mac you cannot export Contacts as a vCard. But if you decide to email someone a contact, you can attach it into an email as a vCard. I simply chose all 2,193 contacts and attached all of them to an email to myself. Voila ! )

I now wish to import all of the vCards into Gmail Contacts. Having opened up the proper page on Gmail online, I’ve found the place for Importing a contact. When I opened up the folder with my many contacts, I find that I cannot highlight more than ONE vCard to Import into my GMail contacts.

Clearly I’m not gonna do that step 2,193 times.

Is there a way to bulk import the vCards into my GMail Contacts?

Thanks in advance.

Try this:

Open Terminal.
Change to the folder with your vCards.
Issue the command \*cat _.vcf \> all\_cards.vcf_ (this assumes all your vCards have a .vcf extension; if this is not the case, change to the proper extension).
Upload the all\_cards.vcf file.
