Hmm. If my parents had died as described, I don’t think I’d engage in this kind of dramatics. I’d have bailed–who needs it, who else could really understand, and all that. Doesn’t smell right to me. Seems staged. ---

Regarding your misunderstanding of American culture: you have continually proclaimed the absurd notion that Ms. Carroll is a “traitor” for making statements under duress. First, the statements would not be traitorous by the definition of any rational person in the U.S. (As noted, any number of prisoners of war have made similar statements under similar conditions–even after receiving prisoner training unavailable to reporters–and there has never been a hue and cry from the American public to twist the law in some fashion to prosecute those persons.) Second, this thread has received posts from members of the political Left, the political Right, the political Center, and people who think for themselves and NOT ONE American has agreed with you, indicating pretty clearly that you do not have an understanding of American culture. Finally, whatever bias I hold against you as a person is irrelevant unless I allow it to influence my decisions to enforce board rules. I think I have demonstrated over my months as a Moderator an ability to separate personal opinion from official action. I will not insist that I have achieved some level of divine impartiality, but I make a pretty good effort. (Actually, I do not do badly even interacting as a poster: in the other pair of threads to which we are both posting at the moment, I volunteered the opinion that your false presentation of the events with which you were taking isssue were probably due to an eagerness to make a point and a failure to ascertain the facts rather than a deliberate effort to lie.) If you have evidence that I have taken official action against you in a manner that was either based on or invented because of any personal antipathy, feel free to report my actions to the Administration or Pit me (or both). When I am not acting in an official capacity, I feel free to exercise my right to post my opinions. If this bothers you, too bad. By the way.
