> You’d think Ivanka or Melania would clue him in. They surely know a good colorist and a makeup artist.

I don’t feel that any of Trump’s wives has been seen as an equal partner by him. He wants somebody who will look good and won’t confront him. If Melania started criticizing him, he would begin looking for wife number four.

He can’t divorce Ivanka. She seems to have his ear. She probably just kisses his butt, too.

> Yeah, but the guy is also sensitive to perceived slights. Even tho he apparently watches Fox near exclusively, he can’t be unaware that his appearance is widely mocked. Has no one - an ex-wife, or business opponent - ever spoken uncharitably about his appearance?
>
> And he seems narcissistic (in a nondiagnostic use of the term.) Makes me wonder why someone would take active steps - his hairstyle/skin color - to present himself in a manner that he knows people mock. What does he see when he looks in the mirror?

This post demonstrates a misconception about how truly narcissistic people actually are. They don’t _care_ what other people think about how they look. They might have an idea in their mind of how they want to look, even if that idea seems weird to the rest of us, and as long as they achieve that ideal, they don’t CARE if everyone else thinks it’s fucked up. To them, it’s everyone else who is fucked up, and they look great, no matter what anyone says.

He can’t divorce Ivanka. But he could cast her out from his inner circle. And Trump seems to have raised his children to be dependent on him.

I’ll give Tiffany and Barron a pass because of their ages. But Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric are all adults. Yet they all work directly for their father.

The Carter, Clinton, and Obama children were young. But look at the Ford, Reagan, and Bush children. They all had their own careers.

Ivana says that one of their first outings was a sky trip. She made the mistake of going much faster than him, leading to a pout that wouldn’t have looked out of place on an anteater’s face. Took a mental note to never ever upstage him again.

I am surprised Trump would do something that outdoorsy.

> ^^I remember when my daughter was learning about make-up as a young teen, the girls in her group decided that using concealer under your eyes was a good look. They went around with multi-colored undereyes for a whole year. It was hilarious. Thankfully someone found out how stupid it looked and changed the routine. **So Trump is a teen girl playing with make-up**. Oh great, I feel better now.

> His hair is sculpted by plastic surgery, specifically scalp reduction surgeries to remove the parts of his scalp which no longer grow hair, with the remainder taking on the current appearance.
>
> His surgeon, Dr Hoefflin, is quite an interesting chap. The one time president of the LA Society of Plastic Surgeons, he also ran a brief independent campaign to become president of America back in 2008, and was found by the LAPD hiding in a tree with a pellet gun, claiming he was being hunted by John McCain’s assassins. He was put on a 72 hour psychiatric hold. He’s also alleged to have been the man who got Michael Jackson hooked on painkillers, after another botched scalp reduction (MJ having burned his scalp in an accident filming an advert), and to have been responsible for MJ’s nose. And, of course, the botched scalp reduction is alleged to have led to Trump raping his then-wife Ivana.
>
> Between him, the one Trump’s goons robbed and Admiral White Tooth, Trump has a knack for choosing doctors.

The version I heard is he had scalp reduction surgery; he then brushes his hair all the way back, then forward which gives him the doo.

I read in an unauthorized biography that Trump considers baldness a sign of weakness, which if true would go a long way in explaining the lengths he has gone to maintain the illusion of a full head of hair.

The self-image thing also refers to other items: if a narcissist thinks he’s stylish, then his checkered orange-and-green Bermuda shorts are helluva stylish, specially when combined with a plaid shirt in yellow and blue. If one thinks she’s a great lady, then she’s a great lady even if she has the mouth of a truck driver in full road rage. And so forth. That’s what being a narcissist is.

> TMI anecdote time: I tried Propecia once, maybe 15 years ago. After about a month, I could’ve slammed my junk in a car door and not felt a thing. Ranking certain priorities higher than keeping hair, I stopped, and it took roughly _a year_ before I felt normal again. From reports I’ve read, quite a few men aren’t so lucky. The stuff screws around with your hormones, essentially, and they don’t like to be provoked.
>
> Sure, maybe I happened to be in that unlucky 2%. I would bet, though, that the incidence is a whole lot higher than Merck and their no doubt completely impartial, trustworthy and accurate studies claim.

Most of the Propecia I dispensed was for women, usually for treatment-refractory acne or polycystic ovary syndrome.

I’m on hormone blockers for hormone-receptive breast cancer, and am grateful that I was far enough along in menopause that I’m not having serious side effects; some women do.
