Am I the only person who sees **TBC** as the latest specimen of that newly-developed genus of SDMB poster, the Desperately Dense Bush Apologist™®(\*)? I mean, geez, it’s only March, and already we’re getting folks who will defend every misstep, lie, violation, and smear from the Dubya White House to their dying breath. Either the propaganda is _really_ good, or folks like **TBC** are just flailing about in the early stages of panic that ood ol’ George might not be half as good as they claim he is. (\* = As opposed, of course, to the dying breed of level-headed Republicans, who are watching the Bush White House in abject terror as they wonder what this government-growing fiscally-irresponsible states’-rights-ignoring saber-rattling idjit is doing in their party.) ---

Somewhat off-topic, but I always wondered how in the Hell so many people here in Nevada voted for that fucking insane amendment. A state built on the concept of quick marriage and quicker divorce, protecting the sanctity of marriage? Right. It’s bizarre to me how we can be the crazy state where gambling and prostitution is legal, where people come for wild hedonistic weekends full of drugs and booze and sex and money, and then we turn around and play the “religious moral traditional family” game. If we’re going to be a state that offers so much moral freedom, we should probably stick to that idea when it comes to civil rights. That thing is such a fucking embarrassment. ---

Have you ever considered modifying your rhetoric to encourage greater cooperation and alliance? Now would be a good time to re-unite the country. Think of Lincoln’s finer moments, (forget the other stuff). A **face-saving** way has to be found to allow our brethren to change their minds. It’s easier to change your mind when you can keep your face attached to it. This really deserves its own thread, but my time is committed in different ways these days. ---

You can only bang your head against a brick wall for so long before you start looking for the jackhammer… I _want_ to have cordial, respectful discussions with political opponents who make well-reasoned arguments for their views. But unfortunately, that seems to be an endangered species in the GOP these days. ---

Those are all denigrations. You put four of them into a short post claiming you wish to be cordial. With all due respect, I think you’re underestimating the credulity of your readership. If you wished to be cordial, then the last you time you addressed me you said that I “can have no claim as a lover of truth,” and that what I wrote was “drivel,” though I had not actually addressed you nor given you any cause or provocation.
