If everyone is equally polite, perhaps. But if one segment is demanding politeness when it comes to their beliefs, but refuses to extend such politeness to the beliefs(or non-beliefs) of others, then there is a definite problem. ---

IMHO, and one I’ve posted before on this site, “There is no such thing as _ceremonial deism_”. You can tell the public doesn’t believe that latter term because of their freaking out about their religious sensibilities being offended when even the _idea_ of removing the religious references is discussed.
