Some of the hard core religious right types believe that Trump is under assault by the devil, who subjects him to irresistible temptations in order to discredit and undermine him as he’s doing the Lord’s work.
Therefore, if you criticize or marginalize him for his many sins of greed and lust and avarice, you’re just playing into the hands of the devil.
